Stacey's Character Has Been Ruined - Anyone Agree?

In my view, the character of Stacey Slater has been ruined by producers and writers. When she first joined, I could see so much promise in her character.. she was like a young Janine who quickly developed into the new 'Kat Slater' and a mature young adult as she helped deal with her mum, Jean. I remember Stacey dealing with her mother being a fantastic set of episodes. I remember reading that there would be some great storylines for her... but what there has been for her has mostly been awful the majority of the time.

Her storylines have been unoriginal and boring overall. Stacey and Bradley getting together was really nice and sweet, but then we had Stacey getting pregnant and having an abortion, then a week or so ago, what do we have? Another possible pregnancy for Stacey... something we've seen from her character before and the fact she wasn't even pregnant anyway, made it seem like pointless filler.

Stacey's affair with Max - a pretty good storyline I suppose, but it did have its moments. For one, it dragged on for far too long. The only good thing about it really was the reveal on Christmas Day which was fantastic viewing. But now, Stacey and Bradley are back together again..and look what is rumoured...Stacey to have ANOTHER affair. :rolleyes: Boring! - can't they think of anything original for her character to do? Instead, they give her repetitive storylines - two pregnancy related storylines, an affair, and now another affair set to happen. The whole "will they? Won't they?" question for Stacey and Bradley I can see happening for months on end now, as I can predictably see them 'making up' and 'breaking up' which would just be too similar to Kat and Alfie, meaning more repetition.

totally agree! if she gets with Callumn then it's the death of her character. she's a tart, but without the heart. going off her very fast!

Yeah she's been completely ruined. Ruby and Stacey were a really good double act and it's a shame the writers made Ruby and Stacey part on bad terms in order to write Louisa Lytton out. They ruined Ruby's character too by having her obsessed with Sean and not really caring about Stacey, in my opinion.

She was good as a bit of a teen terroway, stealing alcohol with Lucy and trashing Johnny's house with Ruby. We saw that she did have a heart when she cared for her mum and was there for Ruby when she found out that Johnny had been seeing Tina when her mum and sister died, and that her dad's ways were largely responsible for their deaths.

Now she's just turned into a tart and grown up too quickly. She had to grow up quite quickly when she was younger with Sean running off and that made her into the 15 year old we saw when she arrived. Now she seems so much older than that and it's hard to relate to a character who will go off with her boyfriend's dad, and then turn round and marry her boyfriend. The abortion was the start of a slippery slope and I haven't really liked the character since. I'm glad she is still protective of her mum as she was when Ted abandoned her, but the storylines are just getting silly now.

Staceys character was ruined the second she jumped into bed with Max. I used to love her when she first came into it, winding up Zoe and that lol but i couldn't care less for her now. and despite everything shes done she still seems to have gone back to bossing Bradley around. I wouldn't be surprised if there was another affair on the cards to be honest.

talking of characters being ruined - Billy. he's forever getting himself into debt and having to resort to petty ways to provide for his family - BORING. The fact he's now got involved with Jase is just stupid, and we all know what's about to happen with Honey & the kids, so Billy will be back to stage one - sad pathetic loser. yawn! change the record and get out of Walford!

saying that i don't know if his character has been ruined as such, as he's always been a pretty crap character tbf!!!

i think staceys character started going downhill after her and bradley broke up. i think now they could start improving her character again as long as they stop her being how she has been for the part year/18 months. if she has another affair, especially so soon after getting back with bradley, then i dont see how the writers can save her and make her back into a likeable character imo

It's the writers to blame,how many times have they ruined decent characters over the years with stupid storylines. You only have to look at Billy and Minty to see that, both were bullying hardmen when the first appeared in the square now they are just a couple of drips like Gary. What purposed do they provide in the show.

I pretty much agree with everything that has been said. I went off Stacey during the affair with Max, I've never seen anyone so permanently miserable - and that includes Pauline Fowler! She just doesn't deserve Bradley.

don't even get me started on her.. when she first came she was great, since she left max she has become something she was never meant to be.. she plays everyone now, not like her at all

The writers have ruined two great characters in Stacey and Tanya now i couldnt care less about both.

There was pictures in NOTW on Sunday of Stacey and Callum snogging. Poor Bradley he deserves better

I agree completely her character has become rather repetitive and boring, but if I'm honest I always thought she was like that from day one.

Stacey joins the long list of characters in EE who I dislike/couldn't care less about. I think the only thing saving her from me never wanting to see her again is her relationship with the wonderful Jean and the fact that she'll be needed when Sean blows up over the baby stuff.

I think Stacey/Bradley has a Cindy/Ian feel about it. Cindy never really loved Ian and whilst he gave her money, a home, businesses, security, she was never happen as she was always 'making do'. That is Stacey. She 'loves' Bradley but she is not 'in' love with him and there is no real passion there.

Predicably this means she will always be seeking something, or rather someone else fill the void. Repeat affairs don't have to be boring. Personally I didn't find Cindy/David boring just because Cindy was a repeat offender.

The problem for me is that Callum is as dull as dishwater and doesn't even seem like Stacey's type anyway. He's more Deano Wicks than a Max and I just don't believe Stacey would be interested in him (I mean she only slept with Deano cos Max dumped her). Plus Stacey is hardly Miss Smiley :) 2008 and I am sick of her grumpy, sulky attitude.

The one thing that will save Stacey I think is to knock this impending Callum rubbish on the head pronto and split her and Bradley up for good. She will never truely be happy with him so Callum will just be the first in a long line of bores in the never ending drama of Stacey's lovelife, which personally I couldn't care less about.

I really liked Stacey when she first came into it, she was gobby and fiesty if anyone got on her bad side...but she had a heart of gold with Ruby and even protecting Zoe over the whole murder thing even though when the pair of them were in it they never seemed to get on...she was a real Slater girl....remember Kat & Zoe always fighting but when it came down to it they stuck by eachother...just like that but now she is very quiet doesn't really have friends and doesnt seem to care about anyone (i mean she cant care about Bradley can she?)

I agree that they changed her into a miserable, moaning Minnie, something she never was beforehand. I wish they made her realise how much Bradley means to her and that they have a happy relationship for a change. So many deaths and invalid weddings have happened lately, let's cheer EE up a bit, it is too depressing at the moment, imo.
