Wednesday, 3 September 2008,

Stunned by the death of Jay Newman (Stefan Butler), DC Grace Dasari (Amita Dhiri), Trainee DC Kezia Walker (Cat Simmons) and Sergeant Rachel Weston (Claire Goose) stand over his body, while CSE Eddie Olosunje (Jason Barnett) examines the scene. Eddie explains that Jay could have been pushed from a balcony several floors up, but there is the distinct possibility that he jumped.

Back at the station, Grace updates DS Elizabeth Marsh (Jackie Clune), the Newmans’ witness protection officer. Grace explains that drug dealer Gavin Henshaw (Chris Corrigan) was badly beaten and Jay identified Les Cooper (James Clyde) as the suspect. Later, Grace is tasked with informing Jay’s parents, Tash (Rachel Sanders) and Bernie (Daniel Cerqueira) about his death. Overwhelmed by grief and anger, Tash slaps Grace across the face, accusing her of not protecting her son.

Elsewhere, Les Cooper is eventually arrested by Grace and Rachel, who find him in a hairdressers - with a bag full of foreign currency and passports - attempting to change his appearance. When interviewed, Les denies killing Jay and when his alibi is confirmed, Grace has to consider the possibility that Jay committed suicide.

As the investigation continues, the officers discover that Jay had a huge stash of heroin that he had found at Gavin’s house and that Marcus Kendall (Alex Hassell), Gavin’s supplier, was after Jay and the drugs. As the main suspect in the case, Marcus’s phone is tracked to a car park where he quickly clocks Rachel, DC Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) and PC Tony Stamp (Graham Cole). Revving his engine and putting his foot down in an attempt to escape them, he spins out of control and smashes into another vehicle.

Thursday, 4 September 2008,

PCs Millie Brown (Clare Foster) and Arun Ghir (Abhin Galeya) are shocked when they tend to a mugging in a dark car park and discover that the victim is Naomi Woods (Kim Thomson), DC Jacob Banks (Patrick Robinson) wife.

Later, Naomi visits Sun Hill to answer their questions and Banksy is horrified when he learns what has happened. Taking her to a quiet interview room, Banksy introduces Naomi to DI Samantha Nixon (Lisa Maxwell) and the two officers interview her. They soon realise that it wasn’t a random attack, but something more sinister – someone with a personal grudge.

During the course of the investigation, Banksy and Samantha discover that the suspect is Bobby Henshaw (Ashley George). Bobby’s younger brother, Michael was knocked down and killed by Alistair Finch (Paul Venables), who was cleared after being defended by Naomi. The officers quickly come to the conclusion that Bobby is seeking some kind of revenge and realise they need to find him, and fast.

Armed with this information, Banksy and Samantha visit Bobby’s parents, Edward (Stephen Casey) and Judy (Tracey Wilkinson), who appear to lay some of the blame of Michael’s death on Bobby, who they feel should have taken better care of his brother. Elsewhere, Alistair is interviewed by DS Max Carter (Christopher Fox) and DC Stevie Moss (Lucy Speed), who takes an immediate dislike to him.

Later, concerned about his wife, Banksy heads home, but when he walks through the door he senses that something isn’t quite right. As he turns into the kitchen, his worse fears are realised when he sees an emotional Bobby holding a knife to Naomi’s throat.
