I just wanted to post my appreciation over this character.
I have just started watching Season 3 on DVD (just finished 3.4) and to me, he is my favourite character from the whole Lost series and one of my favourite TV characters of all time. The writers have done very well in making a character that is well rounded. At the start of Season 1, the revelation he was in a wheelchair was one full of surprise. He appeared rather intriguing at first, but as the seasons have gone on, the flashbacks has helped build him into a character full of depth, where the emotion and feeling towards his character has built up.
His flashbacks have been my absolute favourite. The writers have done well creating all characters, but with John Locke, what they have created for me is a masterstroke. His storyline with his dad is my personal favourite, but the depth that has been added to his character overall, has made me care towards his character, as well as mould him into a person that is realistic and credible too.
Hats off to the writers - John Locke is a character that I find fascinating!
