2356: Newt struggles with Jack's 'death'

Sasha is desperate for Calvin to get her more heroin as her last fix wears off. Calvin, still full of hate and guilt over what he did, becomes snappy with Carmel over wedding plans. Realising this, he offers to spend the day with her and asks Danny to stay with Sasha. An agitated Sasha tries to tell Danny that Calvin gave her heroin but they are interrupted by a phone call. Later, Sasha begs Calvin to sort her with more heroin without realising that Carmel has walked in and heard everything. Calvin is torn between helping his sister and doing what's right but he promises Carmel that he won't give in. Calvin later finds Nige dealing drugs and makes the decision to let him off once he hands over the heroin. Eddie is shocked when he discovers the drugs in Calvin's coat pocket while an oblivious Calvin heads back to Sasha…
The reality of the situation is starting to hit Darren as he panics over Jack's inquest. Newt is struggling with his own guilt and desperately tries to ignore Eli. Darren finds disturbing drawings that Newt has done - he feels guilty but is oblivious to the fact Newt believes he killed Jack. Thinking that Newt is grieving for Jack, Frankie reassures him things will be OK and he is the best thing to happen to the family, which only makes him feel worse. Newt's paranoia increases over Jack's death, as does Darren's guilt and shame as a confused Frankie returns from the inquest…
Still in disbelief over their kiss, Elliot thinks Sarah will have changed her mind about their date. Zak, highly amused at the situation, winds Elliot up about Sarah having expensive tastes being a model and where he will take her. Elliot's confidence is knocked further when Gilly and Rhys call round and Rhys, still bitter, tells Elliot that Sarah must be going out with him for a bet. Elliot fears he's been stood up when Sarah is late. Rhys is enjoying the moment until Sarah arrives and the couple leave together. The date ends with an awkward-but-romantic kiss, Elliot finally getting his happy ending.
Josh is thinking of asking Amy out now Ste is out the picture. He asks Hannah for advice but they are interrupted by an excited Sarah. The power in the shop is cut off when Josh tries to plug his guitar in the amp. With no other option, Hannah gives in and decides to call Danny to come and fix it. Things are awkward but civil between the pair until Rhys and Gilly arrive, ruining any chance of a reconciliation between the pair as Rhys plays the protective big brother, embarrassing Hannah. Rhys is clearly feeling low after Sarah rejected him for Elliot which is made worse by seeing the couple head off on their date. Gilly and Josh join forces to throw some friendly banter Rhys' way but this only riles him more.
2357: Darren and Jack realise they're in too deep

The day of Jack's funeral dawns as Darren prepares for the service and the emotions it will bring. Ruth arrives to join in the family grief, which only fuels Darren's guilt. Frankie strives to be strong and seeks strength from Steph and Newt, while Darren invites Kris to be a pall bearer, in an ironic and cruel twist of fate.
As Darren's mid speech during his eulogy, the pressure finally takes its toll and he breaks down with the weight of his guilt. Returning for the wake, Newt is equally distraught and seeks solace in his room. As old friends and colleagues reminisce about Jack's life, in a bizarre coincidence, Myra is also reminded about a part of her past which has remained secret for a long time. As Darren is about to confess all to Ruth, the moment is interrupted by Newt, who in front of everyone, declares he killed Jack and wants to be arrested for his crime. At Jack's graveside, Darren and Jack weigh up all the heartache and grief they've caused their family and realise they're in way too deep.
Eddie confronts Calvin over the wrap of heroin from yesterday and admits he's in a quandary over whether to report him. When Carmel discovers what's happened, she furiously lambastes Calvin, before Leo joins in, disgusted with his behaviour. Calvin hot-tails it to the station in an effort to stop Eddie reporting him and resorts to drastic measures, before begging him not to ruin his career. Informing Carmel that he's sorted things with Eddie, Calvin's in for a shock when she turns her back on him, leaving him to fester in his guilt.
At the Valentines', Sasha's desperate for a fix, however, when Leo admits he knows about Calvin supplying her with heroin and he may lose his job because of her, a subdued Sasha is left contemplating her future. Carmel stands firm and informs Calvin she needs time to think. As Carmel leaves with her suitcase, she informs Calvin that his lying has jeopardised their future. Realising the price he's having to pay - possibly losing Carmel and his job in the same day – Calvin finally decides to play tough with Sasha…
In an attempt to keep Myra from taking over at Il Gnosh in his absence, Tony insists she come with him to Jack's funeral. At Jack's wake, talk turns to local villains he's arrested during his time in the police, and an upset Myra is forced to remember a part of her past she'd chosen to lock away. As she flees the Dog, Niall witnesses Myra's reaction and puzzled, wonders what's upset her. Seeking out Steph, Niall confesses he's here because he wants to support her and a thankful Steph politely rebukes his offer, insisting she's got her family and that's all she needs. Kieron approaches Myra, aware something's shaken her and we discover that Jack was responsible for arresting her boyfriend, who subsequently died in prison and was the father of the baby boy she had to give up. A defensive Myra heads home, with her past playing heavy on her heart…
2358: Warren stuns Calvin with a CCTV tape

Darren's relieved that he's managed to get through Jack's funeral but has to hide his alarm when Frankie starts getting rid of his things. Newt's tormented by Jack's death and when he picks up Darren's phone and hears Jack's voice at the other end of it he's terrified. He does everything he can to try and block Jack's voice out but it continues to haunt him. Darren and Frankie realise that Newt's in serious trouble when they find him in a state of panic, surrounded by all the electrical equipment he's dismantled.
The Valentines are forced to unite to get Sasha through her cold turkey and rid herself of heroin forever. Sasha's determined to kick the habit but can't do it alone and stops the family leaving the house by blocking all the exits. Everyone tries different ways to escape, but with the door locks filled with gum, all they can do is sit and wait for the locksmith to turn up. Sasha listens to the family argue in the living room as she sits through the pain of withdrawal and explains to Valerie that she was hoping to bring everyone back together and force them to be honest with each other. Valerie's left with food for thought when Sasha tells her that if she can kick heroin, then her family should be able to sort out their problems too. After receiving threatening texts from Warren, Calvin goes over to The Loft to meet him. Calvin's horrified when he realises Warren's got footage of him buying heroin for Sasha on CCTV, but what will he do with it?
It's the reading of Max's will. Steph's frantically cleaning up ready for the solicitor to arrive as Cindy plans how she can spend her inheritance. Steph realises how much she misses Max when she finds out he's left her his estate and wishes he was there instead but Cindy's fuming when all she gets are his DVDs. Mandy and Steph go to The Dog to raise a toast to Max, but everyone's left stunned by Cindy's behaviour.
Michaela's miffed when she returns from her boring journalism placement to find she's missed all of Amy's news. Amy can't help but laugh at her friend's misfortune when she realises she thought she was going away for a glamorous week but instead found herself working for the North Norfolk Bugle. Not one to miss out on a good story, Micheala quickly gets her Dictaphone out when Amy tells her she's moved back home after being hit by Ste and she's pregnant. Michaela's outraged by Ste's behaviour and promises Amy she'll never leave her again but as soon as Amy leaves, Michaela starts writing her story. Micheala's pleased with herself when she writes the best article she's ever written, but can she really betray her friend's confidence?
2359: Lauren convinces Newt to go to hospital

Following Newt's 'confession' to Jack's murder, Frankie and Darren are desperately trying to get him to come out of his bedroom. Inside, Newt is trying to come to terms what he thinks he's done and Eli's only compounding his fears by telling him that he has to kill Frankie and Darren to be sure of his own survival. Darren, knowing that Newt isn't responsible for Jack's death, urges Frankie to call the insurance company about Jack's life insurance but Frankie's only concern is Newt's well-being.
Lauren arrives and is at first dismissed by Frankie and Darren but she soon reveals to them that Newt has an imaginary friend, Eli, and that his grip on Newt is a danger to them all. Remembering the graffiti in their living room, 'Eli's going to get you', they realise the severity of the situation and Darren manages to break the door down. Lauren coaxes Newt safely out of the room and convinces him that they only want to help. Trusting his best friend, Newt agrees to go to the hospital with them. Once in the hospital Lauren tells Frankie and Darren that Newt, in the guise of Eli had planted the bombs at The Loft and Evissa.
Frankie is dumbfounded and to Darren's horror begins to question whether he might have been capable of murdering Jack after all. Darren is exasperated when Frankie tells him that she wants Jack's body exhumed. Can Darren change her mind before everyone discovers that it's not Jack in the grave?
Cindy is still furious that Max left her no money in his will and is making sure that Steph is well aware of that fact. Steph tries to tolerate Cindy's constant sniping but it becomes too much for her and she tells Cindy that she's got until the end of the day to get out of her flat. Cindy storms out and heads for the SU bar where she meets Zak. Cindy quickly spots an opportunity when Zak buys her a drink and offers her a room to stay in. Not realising that Zak lives in student halls and desperate and conniving as ever, she snogs him to seal the deal.
Cindy then heads over to MOBS with Holly and her belongings to boast about her new luxury home. Things quickly escalate and before long, Steph, Cindy and Mandy are having a huge catfight while Holly looks on. Desperate for someone to consider her for once, Holly launches a bucket of rotten fruit over the scrapping trio and announces that Max would be ashamed of them all. Suddenly realising their selfishness, the girls agree a truce for Holly's sake.
Russ bumps into the mysterious Caroline whilst out running with Zak. Intrigued, he agrees to meet her for a drink in the SU bar later on. In the SU bar Zak is soon made to feel like a third wheel so he heads to the bar where he meets an upset Cindy and soon offers her somewhere to stay, if for different reasons. Pleased that he's finally pulled, Zak heads back to Russ - who has been suddenly and unexpectedly ditched by Caroline - to gloat. Later, in the village, Zak spots Cindy with all her bags and assumes she's set to move in, but Cindy, having reconciled with Steph, denies ever having known Zak. Mandy and Steph realise what's going on and tease her mercilessly as Zak is left to lick his wounds, with a less than sympathetic Russ.
2360: Jack and Darren stun Frankie

Darren's still trying to get Frankie to claim Jack's life insurance but she has been totally thrown by the discovery that Newt planted the bombs and is still insistent that Jack's body be exhumed. Terrified that the truth will come out, Darren pleads with her to let it go but he turns his back and she makes for the police station.
Darren knows that soon enough they will be exposed so he goes to meet Jack to ask him to run away with him. Jack knows that it's not the answer and there's only one thing for it. Back at the Dog, Frankie apologises to Darren but she did what she had to and that's that; Darren tells her that it's not as simple as that, and as she demands to know why, Jack steps out from the shadows to reveal the awful truth.
Mandy's trying in vain to put together a model agency but is finding that none of her old contacts want to know, so she turns to Louise to try to get some help. Louise offers her the Loft as an office for the day but working under Warren's nose quickly causes friction for Mandy and she begins to really despise him. Just as Mandy is about to dismiss Warren as a heartless thug, she witnesses Warren lending Frankie a shoulder to cry on as she reveals that Newt planted the bombs in the Loft and Evissa. Is there more to Warren than his icy gangster façade?
When Zoe and Mike begin to plan a holiday together, Zoe is shocked to discover that Mike is planning on bringing Amy and Leah along too. Zoe is soon further irritated by Mike's mollycoddling of his daughter when he cancels their evening out at the pictures together in favour of staying in with Amy. Amy tries to point out that she's not a child and that she can handle being left alone for a few hours but it's too late as Zoe turns to Zak for an evening of kebabs and video games. Is Zoe beginning to realise the grim reality of dating an older man when she just wants to have fun?
Josh comes home to reveal to Rhys and Gilly that he has failed his driving test. As the two lads try to cheer up a depressed Josh, he explains how he had hoped to get on the road to get the Baby Diegos back together and perhaps more importantly, woo Amy onto the open road with him. In an attempt to cheer him up, Rhys and Gilly agree to help him put the band back together, with them as the new members. Things start off slowly but Josh is spurred on by some encouraging words from Amy and before long, the Dirty Diegos are born.
Whilst having a kickabout with Zak in the village, Russ accidentally discovers that Caroline, for all her mystique, is actually just a postman! She attempts to cover up the truth but Russ isn't impressed at being deceived and is about to call a day on the whole thing until Caroline promises she'll be totally honest from here on in.
