2353: Tina's maternal instinct surfaces
Airs on Wednesday, July 30 2008 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4
Tensions between Tina and Dominic are increasing as Tina tries to put all reminders of the surrogacy behind her. She is short with Dominic for being drunk the night before. Dominic tries to make up with Tina by offering her a weekend away for a re-enactment. Tina hurts Dominic's feelings when she tells him she doesn't want to dress up like an idiot then snaps at Myra. Myra is worried about her daughter and tries to talk to her but Tina simply tells her she is fed up of being pushed around. Myra babysits Baby Max for Jacqui after Tina tells her she is fine with him being there but later when he cries and Myra is busy, Tina is forced to comfort him. She can't help but feel a huge surge of love for the crying child. Maternal instinct kicking in, she guiltily unbuttons her shirt… and starts to breast feed.
Ste wakes up alone in hospital with his leg in a cast. He has no visitors and feels desperately lonely. Kieron arrives at the hospital to support Ste and takes him some anger management leaflets. Ste makes it clear that he doesn't want him there but when Kieron gives up and leaves, Ste realises he's the only friend he has and calls him back. Amy later stops Kieron to ask about Ste, much to the annoyance of Mike. Amy leaves to visit Ste and despite his attempts to win her back, she makes it clear she has had enough and leaves. She returns to the Barnes' and into Mike's arms, much to his relief.
Jacqui is still feeling envious of Mandy's 'perfect mother' image and snaps at her when Mandy asks if Baby Max has a bit of eczema. Feeling awkward, Jacqui makes an off the cuff comment about a baby club but Mandy is all for it and starts the arrangements for that night much to Jacqui's horror. Jacqui asks Steph to come along too. After leaving Baby Max with Myra, Jacqui attempts to make some organic snacks but things don't go to well. Mandy and Steph arrive and the atmosphere soon relaxes when Mandy admits she'd rather have a big glass of wine and stuff herself with cakes and the girls decide to have mum club instead and enjoy themselves.
Elliot and Hannah help Sarah out at MOBs as Cindy texts Mandy to say she can't make it. Hannah and Elliot are enjoying themselves in their banana costumes and Sarah surprises herself by feeling jealous of their closeness. Hannah gives Elliot advice on wooing Sarah and even bigs Elliot up to Sarah herself. After a series of unsuccessful attempts, Elliot gives up on trying to win Sarah's affection and asks Hannah if she'll go to the comic fayre with him tomorrow. Hannah agrees and both are oblivious as Sarah's jealousy burns.
2354: Sasha is found by the police
Airs on Thursday, July 31 2008 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4
Calvin feels helpless as their search for Sasha proves fruitless but he's determined not to give up. When they get news of a possible sighting in London he clings onto the slightest bit of hope and plans to head down there with Leo. Lauren's thrilled when she wins the poetry competition but her news is overlooked by the family as they concentrate on finding Sasha.
Val notices her disappointment and calls a family meal to celebrate but it's only a further disappointment to Lauren when half of the family don't show up. Carmel fears for her relationship with Calvin as the pressure of Sasha's disappearance mounts up but Calvin can't cope with Carmel's worries as well and breaks down in Val's arms. Calvin pulls himself together and heads off to the police station. They're stunned when a scruffy suspect is brought in and they realise it's Sasha. Calvin's relief on seeing his sister is short-lived when Sasha ignores her brother completely…
Elliot sets up the Comic Fayre in the SU Bar, but it's a bit of a non-starter as people fail to turn up to run their stalls. And the fact that Sarah hasn't shown up only ruins his day even more, although he won't admit it. Hannah can see Elliot's upset and helps him out. Watching them work together, Zak thinks they would make the perfect couple and does a bit of matchmaking. Sarah's gutted when Zak tells her Elliot and Hannah are getting close but hides her feelings. Zoe can see she really likes Elliot and encourages her to tell him exactly how she feels. Sarah hurries over to see Elliot but feels she's missed her chance when catching Elliot and Hannah in a compromising position.
Ste's discharged from hospital but with no-one else to turn to he begs Justin for help. Justin wants nothing to do with him at first but when he listens to Ste's heartfelt plea he knows exactly what it's like to have no-one and agrees to help him home. Amy's determined to get on with her life and goes round to the flat to pick up her things, with the help of Sarah and Zoe.
But as they're leaving the flat, Ste and Justin arrive home. Amy's upset when Ste tells her he loves her, but she's soon brought back to reality when Sarah leads her away. Justin feels sorry for Ste and offers to make him some lunch but Ste's bitter and snaps at Justin to leave. Left alone, Ste clings onto Leah's teddy, sad, lonely and hating himself.
Jacqui's exhausted looking after Max and calls on her family to help out but no-one's very forthcoming, until Tina sees an opportunity to spend more time with him. Giving Jacqui the opportunity to sleep Tina comforts Max when he wakes for a feed but when she tries to give him his bottle he refuses it. As he begins to cry, Tina instinctively knows what Max wants and breastfeeds him. Jacqui's delighted when she wakes up to a content Max, lying quietly in his cot and can't thank Tina enough. Tina's guilty and can barely look her sister in the eye knowing what she's done.
2344: Elliot kisses Sarah
Airs on Friday, August 1 2008 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4
Calvin prepares the house for Sasha's return as Justin decides it's time to move out and give the family some space. Returning home, Sasha is dismayed by Calvin's tough new approach. As the rest of the family rally round her, Sasha plays them for all she's worth. Sasha struggles to cope with the cramps from her withdrawal as her body is wracked with pains. Enlisting some sort of compassion from her dad, we see Leo's resolve falter, however, Calvin is steadfast in his decision and warns Leo to stay away from Sasha - she has to face this the hard way.
Attempting to get Leo onside, Sasha tries her sweet little girl routine and just as Leo's about to crack, Valerie steps in with some moral support. Furious that her plan has been scuppered, Sasha smashes a glass in frustration. Calvin misreads the situation and genuinely thinks Sasha's attempted to harm herself. In pure desperation at his sister's decline, Calvin makes a decision to buy heroin for Sasha.
Elliot's determined to find out why Sarah never made an appearance yesterday, and even some friendly ribbing from Zak won't dissuade him. Hannah also asks Sarah why she didn't make it to the Fayre, unaware that she saw what she thought was Hannah and Elliot kissing. Zak attempts to persuade a reluctant Elliot to partner him in a 'King Pong' tournament in the SU, however, he's caught up in a love triangle with Hannah and Sarah and not entirely focused on the game.
Facing up to his responsibilities, he tells a bemused Hannah they can only be friends as his heart belongs to another. Intuitive Hannah beseeches Sarah to do something about Elliot, insisting if she never tries she'll never know if it could work. Gilly, Rhys and Josh arrive at the SU and relish the thought of playing Zak and Ellliot in the final of King Pong. As the competition is about to begin, a psyched up Sarah halts play and confesses her true feelings to Elliot, leaving a gutted Rhys to stand by, open mouthed and watch in disbelief as the geek finally gets his girl...
Josh is furious with Ste for his assault on Amy and confides in Gilly how much he despises him. A homeless Justin is struggling to find somewhere to stay when Leila approaches and offers him a room at Halls - it'll be the perfect arrangement. Justin politely agrees before heading off, leaving Leila buzzing. Gilly and Josh make an unannounced visit to Ste in the Council Flat, and explain that Nev is now his new landlord. Threatening an increase of rent, Ste begins to panic as the possibility of life on the streets becomes more and more imminent. As the clock ticks on, an upset Leila realises Justin's not coming, and instead, he finds himself knocking at Ste's front door, looking for a place to stay. As the unlikely alliance unites, could Ste's luck be about to take an upward turn…?
