STREET hunk Gray O’Brien is the latest star struck down by the Curse of Corrie.
The Scot — who plays ruthless factory boss Tony Gordon — needed urgent surgery on a hip problem.
Gray, 39, is now recovering at home. But embattled bosses of the ITV soap are having to frantically rejig their filming schedule as they gear up to shoot the murder of Tony’s love rival Liam Connor.
A source said: “Everyone is worried about Gray and hopes he’s feeling all right, but this couldn’t have come at a worse time.
"Tony’s character has taken centre stage in recent months and he’s got a huge storyline coming up requiring him to be on set every day.”
A few months ago, after an earlier hip operation, Tony was seen hobbling over the cobbles with a crutch.
Scriptwriters put his limp down to a motorbike accident during a business trip to China.
Now bosses are racking their brains to think of another excuse — with The Street still reeling from a spate of problems which have led to scenes having to be scrapped, rewritten or rescheduled.
Only weeks ago filming was plunged into chaos when Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald, was off work with a mystery illness.
Kym Ryder (Michelle Connor), Ryan Thomas (Jason Grimshaw) and Jonathan Dixon (Daryl Morton) have all been forced to take sick leave over recent weeks.
The source added: “Tony’s involvement in Liam’s murder is such that he needs to be there.
“His latest problem will cause scriptwriters a massive headache as the plot has him walking with Liam on a hilly terrain and being complicit in moving the body after Liam’s death.
“So obviously any impediment with his ability to walk and move unaided will be a nightmare for the producers.
“With all the health issues we have at the moment with the cast, some people are even saying the show is cursed.”

So, does he find out about Liam and Carla's fling and then gets rid of him? :hmm: Looks good.
