This is the ultimate alcoholic drinks thread. I just decided :)
Prob best if its a bit 18+... But the rest of you shouldn't be drinking anyway :nono:
What are your favourite drinks? What are you drinking at the minute? Anything to recommend?
I love trying new drinks. But i'm never sure which ones are safe to mix. Apparently some you can mix and not get as drunk. Though maybe they were lying to me, lmao.
For me: Gin and Slimline tonic - 56 Calories! Thats my favourite for when i'm out for the night, because its not so fattening. Otherwise, Rose Wine, Stella, or different mixers with Vodka, depending on my mood. Yes, i have a wide taste! The only drinks i don't really like are Malibu and Sambuca.

as a general rule its vodka + miker, or JD on the rocks. When I go back I'm gonna start drinking Vodka straight up I think, as having it with a mixer is just more calories, i'm laying off fizzy drinks now.
also sambuka is cheap and does the job! also usually have a bottle of baileys, malibu, and Amaretto!
For those who don't like the taste of alcohol - Amaretto is the drink for you! Very nice with a bit of Coke!

I usually only drink Red wine or bacardi and Lemonade, but I never mix my drinks otherwise I will puke everywhere. ?I don't think about calories when I'm drinking so I wouldn't know what is healthier.
I can't drink vodka because it gives me the biggest tummy problems ever, but I have 3 favourites: Bacardi and coke (my happy drink because it makes me hyper), archers and lemonade (although I'm kind of going off it...) and malibu and coke. Pimms and lemonade reminds me of mouthwash though :eek:
I can't drink wine, beer or cider. I get really ill when I drink them. I can't stand rum, white or black.
My fave is vodka, Russian Standard and Blavod (black vodka) in particular. I mainly stick to spirits.
I usually drink cocktails when I go out. I can't remember most of the names (too smashed to remember them half the time) but there's a really nice one with sambuca and cacura in it. My favourite is frozen lime margharita and mudslide (Bailey's, cream and sambuca with chocolate drizzled round the side of the glass :D)

can't stand alcopops now, i've so grown out of them, too sweet, and do you know what the main ingrediant is in them? cow's bollcks, not a word of a lie!
smirnoff ice is what i used to drink by the bucket load, 2 big bottles for a fiver, but now it gives me the dirtiest headache after i drink it. stick to the stronger stuff, dont the hatch, job's a goodun'

In Gin and Slimline tonic, the tonic only has 1 calorie, the rest is in the alcohol. So just replace the gin with vodka or whatever, and you have a dead low calorie long drink. I think Vodka has about the same calories as Gin anyway, so i doubt it would be much different.
Just dont drink tonic on its own - Its nasty! Its fab as a mixer though.
One lot of drinks i dont get - Alcopops. They just taste of sugar!!
Now I must admit, if Bacardi was the only alcoholic drink on earth, I would be tee total, can't stand the stuff. G&T is lovely but even if I don't have too much of it, I suffer with a bad headache. Voddies with Coke, slimline tonic or as a shot is best for me.

How many of you actually drink underage then? I used to say to myself that I wouldn't drink until I was 18.. it lasted until I was 16 and a half.. or are there people who actually don't drink underage?
I don't understand why people drink alcopops. They taste of nothing and have almost zero % alcohol content.
Spirits are good if you're watching your weight. Gin, vodka, malibu etc are all low in calories. Vodka and diet coke is 150 calories.

Alcopops just make me want to go to the loo :lol: I like peach schnapps with fanta, and vodka is good. But always has to be with something I don't like alcohol on it's own.

Yess that's what I have at house parties!... The offer in Asda! Althoguh it used to be a big bottle of Smirnoff Ice and a big bottle of Raspberry Archers but they don't stock raspberry Archers in Asda now :(

That sounds like a fab drink, i might try that! I've had Archers and Lemonade before, but it was too sweet to have too many. I prefer more bitter drinks, and i like to taste the alcohol. Cause whats the point in drinking it if you can't taste it.

I started when I was about 12. Not much, just alcopops. Hit 15 and really started throwing it down my neck. Stopped when I was 16 for about a year. Don't drink much now unless I go out, in which case I do get smashed.

I recently tried something from another country... Asben or something?? it was 80% alcohol - one shot and wow! lol ... it was something rough that's for sure!
I quite like vodka... especially mixing it with Coke. I also drink Strongbow, Malibu, Stella and WKD regularly - they are probably my top 4 :D I drink Strongbow when I'm out at the sixthform socials usually.
Smirnoff Ice is another nice one.. :o

i never really started drinking before uni, but now i'm as good as an alcholic, though been on a strict detox since last night of uni, i drank so much that i ended up sitting in the middle of the main road crying for no real reason, then went back to the flat and said loads of drunken things that my flatmates recorded and put onto youtube :lol: I'm known as Bryan Winehouse to them all now! :rotfl:
I mainly drink vodka and red bull, what id do for one of them right now!!!!

Absinthe. It's illegal to possess more than four bottles apparently (so a friend told me) because its so strong.

Nothing wrong with Guiness! I'm such a man, i drink loads of drinks like that. Newcastle Brown Ale is similar tasting too, just a bit lighter. You should try it if you like Guiness.

Wen tot a friends house party and her older sister's friends were there too. Her one friend was making us all these drinks... like Mickey Finns and something else and something else. Don't knwo what he put in them but they were green, really really nice and got me absolutely smashed

I have epilepsy and alcohol doesn't affect me. I know some people can't drink anything at all, everybody reacts differently to alcohol. Didn't know about the E numbers in alcopops though. I shall tell my friend about them.

Sounds to me like it might have been a kryptonite! They are damn lethal cocktails right there, the ingrediants differ from place to place but they always guarantee to get you off your face by the second glass!
My brother introduced my OH to Stroh Rum, which is more than 80% alcohol proof, OH was out of his tree after that :wall:

That's the one and yes it's from a foreign country Bry. My friend brought it back from his holiday for us all too try. It's so rough though but it got me feeling a bit tipsy. :lol:
I am 18 in March Kirsty - it would be weird if we passed each other in a club or something. :lol: If you see someone standing up, sleeping, with their mouth wide open drooling on the pavement, then that's probably me as I am always doing that when I'm drunk - camera phones are lethal as my friends took pictures of me and I was horrified when I seen them the next day! :eek:

If you like vodka, there is a vodka bar in York. Sells nothing but vodka, every brand, type and flavour from around the world. I've not been but I'm planning on going this summer.

you're lucky then, becuase my friend's sister had some real horror stories come of it, had a really nasty attack after a night binge drinking on alcopops, then the doctor told her all about how bad they are. it's literally a cocktail of sugar, cows balls, e numbers and other crap that shouldn't even be in drinks.

anything with vodka in! (unless its mixed with coke! :sick: ) i normally drink vodka and lemonade when im out, im so predictable but i dont care! although the club everyone goes to on a monday at uni, i have smirnoff ice then cos theyre so much cheaper than vodka and lemonade! if i wanna get really pissed i usually do shots as well, obviously vodka shots! :rolleyes: no one else i know likes vodka by itself, i usually down the shots (normally 3 at a time, dunno why) and then down a vodka and lemonade too! though i like other stuff too, like sambuca, jd, barcadi, gin, though for some reason i always stick with vodka! the only drinks i cant stand are beer and lager! :sick: any other drink even if i dont particularly like it i can down for competitions/drinking games/pub golf etc but not beer or lager, i can manage about half a half pint and then cant do anymore of it. also vodka slushes are nice as well
Tbh i've got to be one of those good girls cause i don't drink unless it's christmas or new year, easter or wine and lemonade on a sunday night with england.
I've only got tipsy twice cause i'm a light weight. Once i was with aimee and we went drinking down the bridge with others and i had vodka and coke and some of Lauras cherry lambrini that was minging i tell you but that was the only time i ended up crying and my self confidence went down even more then it already was.
Second time i was with lucy and kerry and my self confidence went down a bit and i became sober and started yelling at kerry cause i was down for some reason, so tbh i don't often drink cause i don't want to fall out with anyone.
But at new year i often have Lemon and Vodka, and 2 bottles of bicardi breezer depending what kind my mums bought. Easter, New year and christmas it's champagne and on christmas j20 and champagne cause i get extra hyper on. So basically i don't think i can be classified as an underage drinker as i don't drink often but only a year and 2 months till im 18 and then i can drink properly lol.

Oohhh it was yummy. But I am such a state when drunk. I either go seriously hyper.. liek to the point I have to be sat down and calmed down.
I cry over nothing! I once cried for about 2 hours straight because I thought I messed stuff up for everyone... I would have slapped me if I were my friends!
But the one which never fails is sleeping... sleeping on people's wood floors. There are numerous pictures of me doing this but I don't knwo what it is... they're jsut really cold and feel nice :)

I can't stand cider it's rank or whiskey. I started drinking when I was 14 got rat-ar*ed with my mate on a bottle of her step-dad's whiskey never touched the stuff since. Started going to pubs and clubs at 16.

i'm quite good in the sense i only drink when im out, as i'm not the biggest fan of the taste of alchol, give me a cup of tea or some squash anyday when it comes down to taste. i drink to get drunk, and once im drunk i'll neck anything really, not a fan of the anaceed taste of Sambuka so only shot that once i'm drunk and past caring!

i dont really drink at home cos my mum doesnt drink and my dad only has the occassional one at xmas, if we go out for a meal etc. also i only really drink if i wanna get pissed, i dont see the point in only having a few drinks

i dont really get drunk indoors unless its a houseparty. half the fun is getting pissed while youre out and doing something stupid cos then you also get to watch other people embarrassing themselves too! my housemate gets pissed so easily, after 2 alcopops shes on the floor! so i dont mind going out with her cos i know whatever i do shes gonna be worse lol!

Makes sense. If I had a bad day I'd drink until I couldn't stand up. Other days I didn't drink at all. That's why I don't drink much now, I never know when to stop.

as long as you're in control, and as long as your happy then i don't think it matters how much you drink. you could drink 6 bottles of wine day and it wouldn't make you an alcholic. it's only when you NEED a drink that you become an alcholic, even if you needed just half a shot of the weakest alcohol once a day, then you'd still technically be an alcholic.
but as you say you dont drink all the time, and you were in control of deciding when to drink, but you know when to say no, so all's good.
That's a good point Bryan, I hadn't considered that. People assume alcoholics to be those that drink excessive amounts a day, when really it is the need for a drink, not the want.

yeah, we're forever going on about it during our drinking sessions, it's the one way we can justify that our excessive binge drinking doesn't make us alcoholics! :D :lol:

yeh i agree, i dont like the taste of wine much, but when i do drink it it gets me drunk quick! im fussy though, ill only drink rose or sweet white. at my netball xmas meal last year we got a bottle of wine between 2 in the price. only me and one of my other netball friends would drink it so we had 2 and half bottles each! then went onto the vodka after, that was a drunk night!

I didnt really drink underage, id have 2 bottles of bacardi breezers at house parties or beer, but never more then 2 bottles, and once i tried tia maria and milk at my dad's 50th but that was it...compaired to other people i know who used to be totally smashed when they were 13/14 i was a saint....makes me wonder though why my mum gets so annoyed when i drink and get drunk now :rolleyes: i mean she pratically dragged me home lastnight...we was gunna go to a club but she turns up and puts a stop to that....anyone would think im a kid :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
Anyway when i do drink i have:-

I didnt really drink underage, id have 2 bottles of bacardi breezers at house parties or beer, but never more then 2 bottles, and once i tried tia maria and milk at my dad's 50th but that was it...compaired to other people i know who used to be totally smashed when they were 13/14 i was a saint....makes me wonder though why my mum gets so annoyed when i drink and get drunk now :rolleyes: i mean she pratically dragged me home lastnight...we was gunna go to a club but she turns up and puts a stop to that....anyone would think im a kid :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
my mums a bit like that, although i think her and my grandparents are just a bit concerned about me and my sis drinking too much cos my mums aunt is an alcoholic. i didnt really get drunk when i was under 18, id drink at family celebrations and xmas etc but only a few glasses of wine/champagne or a couple of alcopops. my dad always let me taste his drinks but i dont like beer so i never really wanted to after the first few times! i think i must have got really pissed before i was 18 probably 3times, one time which ended in me passing out and thats the only time due to drink that i actually cant remember whats happened that night! though i only got drunk like that when i was sleeping over someone elses house cos my mum would have gone mental if id turned back up home like that! a load of my mates used to go drinking in the park during the day at weekends and during the hols but i never went with them cos there was no point cos i wouldnt have been able to get pissed, some of them started doing that regularly when they were about 12/13!

Or the punch that my uncle made at my dad's party. I have no idea of ingredients - except for 2 bottles of vodka. It was good, but started drinking at 6 and ended up in bed for 10 and missed most of the party!

:rolleyes: my mum was the same! at 18 she even tried to give me 10pm curfew! yeah like i was coming home then :rolleyes: I moved in with dave and went a bit wild, making up for all those years id not been 'allowed' to get away with it!!
cocktails, i love pina coladas and margeritas. Im missing a bottle of wine on a friday night in front of big brother, evictions sems so dull without it!
apart from the red bull and vodka i love southern comfort and lemonade. Archer is fab but if i drink to much i become a moody, vicious cow :lol:
and baileys is yummm too espiocally when added to a chocolate milkshake!
Roll on the new year so i can drink a bit again :lol:

My Dad's the same. My mum wont let him drink spirits and stuff like that - and southern Comfort & JD is his fave! He just gets really sarcy and fly with people when he's had it!

Vodka red bull was my favourite until a couple of months ago. The red bull keeps me awake for several days when I just want to sleep so I've given it up.
Had several nightmares last night after all that black vodka that I chugged.

It's full of caffeine and sugar. I get the shakes and palpitations when I drink red bull. I really shouldn't seeing as I have a heart problem. Not the best thing you could drink on a night out.

Yeah, taurine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taurine) is an acid and also a constituent in bile. It is the main ingredient in red bull.

yay someone else who doesnt like it either, everyone i know seems to think im weird! i like cocktails but dont have them often, theyre too expensive!
I most cocktails, there is a club that we go to and they do 3 for £10, so we do that and i swear we've had every cocktail they do!
Archers and Lemonade is my current favourite drink :)
Rosé is another fave, can't go wrong!
And if we're doing shots - Sambuca all the way.

Hmm seems I'm in the minority. I like alcopops, they're lush. Spesh pineapple Bacardi Breezer :D.
If I'm out I usually drink lager (Carling or Fosters - even though Stella is my fave) . Also have Archers and lemonade, Malibu and coke and Gin and Tonic a lot too. I like Sambuca. That's lush. HATE vodka! Makes me sick. Wine I like, but I get really hungover off wine so don't bother. If I go to a club then I'll have a cocktail. I also like Apple Sour shots. They are yummy. But could have way too many of them. At home I drink cider. *sips hers now*.

My parents are alright with me drinking which sort of makes me not to drink :lol: I mainly drink at family parties and stuff and when I do drink I have baileys or a punch etc. .. I really don't like the taste of alcohol yet so you know :)..
Also if we go out to restaurants and mum/dad has a cocktail or whatever then they would allow me to have half of it or whatever. Pretty 'cool' like that.
I don't like drinking with my mates and stuff because they get seriously pissed.. nearly everyone I know at school started drinking heavily when they were about 13/14 and now it's even worse lol.. Before that they would drink but not as much as they used to. I rather not loose control of myself when with other people who don't know what they are doing either.
I didn't drink at school or Uni at all. Never. I used to drive all the time and I don't believe in drinking and driving.
I like dry white wines, mainly Sauvingon Blanc or Pino Grigio. I don't like heavily oaked chardonnays, and red wines can give me a migraine so I don't drink them at all.
I don't drink more than one small glass on a work day, and I often don't drink at all. My limit is two glasses and although I rarely exceed this I really pay for it the next day. 2 large glasses would give me the headache from hell, and it isn't worth it.
I like some liquers, amarreto, tia maria especially, but I rarely drink them. I have been known to drink a G & T - usually at Christmas, funerals or if I am in the company of one of my sisters in law who seems to live off them.
If I am in Texas then I love the frozen margaritas, and if I am in a mexican restaurant then I might have one.
I am quite taken aback about how much some of you seem to drink at a relatively young age, my kids are 16 and 14 and I would be horrified if I thought they were drinking like that. I don't think thay are, but then......

i do agree though that loads of kids are drinking a lot regularly underage. i think while i was at school at least half my year were getting completely wasted every weekend

To be honest, I don't think I'm too bad compared to other people in my year. People in my year started drinking regularly when they were 13/14 ... I didn't drink at all back then, apart from a few exceptions... I think I drank a can of Strongbow at a friend's party, and then had a glass of something for new year/Christmas..but back then, I wasn't too keen on the drinking thing. It wasn't until last September when I was still 16, when I started drinking a bit more regularly... usually I went out once a week to a party ..or sometimes twice a week if it was a school social as well..and I would have a few cans then...since September, I've usually gone out once a week, usually once every few weeks...depending what's going on really... and my mum is aware of how much I drink too... I thought I would be honest with her about it, as she can smell it on me if I come back from a party anyway lol...and she doesn't shout at me for it, she just tells me it's my body, it's my life and she trusts me to take responsibility, and I have got drunk a few times since September, but overall I do think I'm responsible and it's nothing out of the ordinary compared to other teenagers these days.

My Mum and Dad have no idea. They knew about the time at my Dad's party, my Dad thought it was hilarious so my Mum told him off for encouraging me! I have been out drinking with friends before, but that was last year, well the last time was 7th of January for my friend's 15th. I got bored with the same thing every weekend tbh.

I think my mum knows but she knows I wouldn't drink so much that I was paralytic. My sister ended up with alcohol poisoning when she was 14 so that taught her a lesson! :p She doesn't drink excessively nowadays. It was just a one of when she was young and naive lol.

A friend of mine was in hospital with that, they had to pump her stomach. They also said that she had been on speed! She hadn't but the doctors were adament. There was no way that she could have been as we were in her house the whole time.
I also like Apple Sour shots. They are yummy. But could have way too many of them.

i remember one night we went over to Deanery for a pre-club party, and we drank from this fishbowl, we found out later about ten people have put a bottle of spirits each in it, so that was lethal becuase we'd have about three and half glassfuls each!

It's sounds like a good idea but it was on he news, last year I think it was, that a young-ish lad was doing a similar thing with the song 'hungry eyes', and every time they said 'Hungry eyes' they had to take a shot. Not sure what it was though. By the time they had finished he had to be taken to hospital but died of alcohol poisoning. :(
