July 30 2008
PC Sally Armstrong (Ali Bastian) responds to a call and rushes to Phil Talbot’s (Christopher Harper) house where she finds him lying unconscious, next to a bottle of vodka. She quickly discovers that Phil is a teacher who has been having problems at school with two teenage girls who he recently suspended for bullying fellow student, Vicky Quigley (Stephanie Blacker). When Sally realises that Vicky is registered as a missing person, she is paired up with PC Tony Stamp (Graham Cole) to pay a visit to Vicky’s worried mother, Sandra (Meryl Hampton). As the investigation continues, the officers are shocked to learn that Vicky and Phil were having an affair. Their concern grows when they receive a static signal from Vicky’s phone and fear that when they reach the destination, they will uncover a body…

Elsewhere, while investigating a spate of local break-ins, PCs Arun Ghir (Abhin Galeya) and Millie Brown (Clare Foster) ask Inspector Gina Gold (Roberta Taylor) if they can set up a sting at a local car wash company that they believe are involved. Amused, Gina agrees and with PCs Ben Gayle (Micah Balfour) and Tony undercover, the four officers head to the car wash to uncover the truth. Ben and Tony watch from afar and discover that the owner, Deano (Dickon Tyrell), is duplicating innocent drivers’ house keys in order to later burgle their homes. Armed with all the evidence they need, the officers approach the car wash, but Deano panics and leaves Millie and Arun wishing they had never left the comfort of Sun Hill that morning.

July 31 2008
Sergeant Nikki Wright (Gillian Taylforth) and PC Will Fletcher (Gary Lucy) are out on patrol when they hear a huge crash. Racing to the scene, they are stunned to see a scaffolding pole which has pierced through the window of a car – and through its driver, Leslie Downey (Martin Jarvis). While calling for emergency back up, Will questions a shaken Anthony Watt (Tobi Bakare) who tells the officer that he was a passenger in the car and was talking to Leslie when the pole speared through the window. As soon as the paramedics arrive, Nikki slips into the passenger seat to talk to Leslie and keep his spirits up. However, the Sergeant is horrified when she is told by the doctor that Leslie’s chances of survival are virtually nil. Aware that the incident isn’t an accident, Nikki faces a race against time to uncover who would want Leslie dead.

Leslie, unaware of his fate, takes a liking to Nikki and answers her questions while asking her about her own home life. He tells her that he owns a classic car dealership and Anthony is his apprentice. Back at the station, Will questions Anthony further, with his brother, Damon (Javone Prince) present. The officer discovers that Leslie is gay and local gossip suggests he is having a relationship with his employee. Damon is furious at the suggestion, making Will suspicious. Would Damon want rid of Leslie to protect his younger brother’s reputation? As the investigation continues and more suspects are questioned, Leslie’s life begins to ebb away, with a devastated Nikki by his side. As the case progresses both Nikki and Will are forced to re-evaluate their positions at Sun Hill.
