ITV2 has commissioned a major new drama series with the tagline "recreational sex, recreational drugs, random murder".

Trinity is set in the "gothic, oak-panelled halls of residence and lecture theatres" of 900-year-old Trinity College, part of the fictional Bridgeford University, but reminiscent of the Cambridge University college of the same name".

"For the first time in its long and illustrious history, Trinity is about to throw open its doors to students from, well, the lower social classes," said an ITV2 preview.

The newcomers - including streetwise Theo (Reggie Yates), stoners Angus (Mark Wood) and Raj (Arnab Chanda) and progressive female Warden (Claire Skinner) - discover a dark world "governed by strict codes of conduct, secret societies and the whims of a select group of over-privileged students".

The series of eight hour-long episodes is created by The Office producer Ash Atalla and also stars Charles Dance (Starter For Ten), Christian Cooke (Echo Beach/Moving Wallpaper) and Antonia Bernath (St Trinian’s), with filming scheduled to start this summer.

ITV2 controller Zai Bennett drew a parallel with the channel's successful Billie Piper series Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, and said Trinity would "cement ITV2’s growing reputation as the place to see dynamic, sexy home-grown dramas".

Atalla, who is also working on a new BBC Three sci-fi comedy, added: "Trinity is a high-octane, ball-breaking drama. It’s full of casual sex, casual drugs and casual murder. What more could you ask for? I’m very excited to be making it and its great to be working with the good people at ITV2."

Perhaps I am old fashioned but there is just a little too much CASUAL in this for me to want to watch this. And what is a casual murder?

This sounds good. Casual sex I can cope with. Casual murder just sounds wrong.

Isn't Reggie Yates the one from CBBC?
