July 23 2008

A late and hungover DC Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) is tasked with investigating a fire that was started earlier that morning at Brendan Moody’s (Robin Soans) house. Mickey is surprised to recognise Brendan’s name as someone who helped him out on an observation years before and heads immediately to the hospital where Brendan is being treated.

Mickey questions Brendan’s son, Kelvin (Carl Prekopp) who reveals he hasn’t seen his father in a while and that he has just discovered Brendan is dying of cancer. Dismayed, Mickey heads back to the station where he confirms that the fire looks like an accident. However, when he listens to a desperate message from Brendan that was left the night before, the case is turned on its head.

Back at Brendan’s house, CSE Eddie Olosunje (Jason Barnett) tells DC Jacob Banks (Patrick Robinson) and Mickey that the fire wasn’t an accident. As the investigation continues, Richard Stirling (Nickolas Grace), Brendan’s landlord, is brought in for questioning. Banksy and Mickey perform the interview and are frustrated by the supremely smug Stirling and his tough solicitor, Naomi Woods (Kim Thomson).

After the interview, irritated that they have to let Stirling go, Mickey attempts to take his mind off the case by checking out Naomi and is stunned when Banksy reveals she is his wife. Later, Banksy is called back to the scene of the fire where Eddie invites the DC to join him in the basement. Taking the torch that Eddie offers him, he gets a shock when he is shown the remains of a decomposed body.

July 24th

PCs Sally Armstrong (Ali Bastian) and Ben Gayle (Micah Balfour) are called to the scene of a hit-and-run of teenager Caitlin Harris (Samantha Spurgin). A frantic Kim Yates (Lorraine Stanley) recalls the car hit Caitlin as they stepped out of the café together. The car is traced to Ryan Davidson (Jason Langley) and Sergeant Callum Stone (Sam Callis) and PC Tony Stamp (Graham Cole) pair up to pay him a visit.

Ryan claims his car must have been stolen in the night but Tony corners Ryan by revealing they have ways of finding out and orders him to take a breathalyser test, which he fails. Back at the hospital, Sally and Ben are concerned when they realise that Kim, Caitlin’s assumed mother, isn’t a relative at all and are forced to chase her through the hospital to demand answers.

Back at the station, Kim tearfully reveals that her own son died a year ago and when the officers assumed she was Caitlin’s mother, she simply went along with it. Sally is pleased to be able to release Caitlin without any charges but is frustrated when Inspector Gina Gold (Roberta Taylor) says they can do no more for her.

However, the case takes a further twist when the officers discover that Kim is Caitlin’s biological mother, but was forced to give her up by her own mother when she was born. Kim had followed her that day to reveal the truth but a confused and frightened Caitlin ran away and into the road.

When Ben and Sally later receive a call to say that Kim has parked her car on the edge of a wharf, they race to the scene, swiftly followed by Stone and Gina. An emotional Kim floors the car and drives off the wharf and into the river.

Gina loses control as Sally immediately sheds her stab vest, ready to jump in after her and the PC is threatened with her job. As Sally throws her warrant card at Gina’s feet, she dives in, followed by Stone. With two of her officers underwater, Gina can only wait, stunned and shaking, to see if they reappear.

Looks like another two episodes free of the ridiculous Kiddiecop:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
