Here's a new spin on the Saturday night talent show. Instead of making bright-eyed young singers jump through hoops, why not get whole choirs to compete? On the evidence of a brief taster tape, the results look loud and lively. It comes from the team behind Strictly Come Dancing and I'd Do Anything, and the idea is to find the nation's favourite choir. (We're not just talking Handel here: gospel, barbershop, pop, folk, rock - any genre allowed.) Presenters Myleene Klass and Nick Knowles jolly things along while a panel of judges - Russell Watson, Sharon D Clarke (Lola Griffin in Holby City) and choral conductor Suzi Digby - make the tough decisions. This week we start the auditions, where the judges have to narrow down 60 choirs to the 15 who go through to the studio heats. Six choirs will then progress to the live shows where the judges and public vote each week for who to save. It should be a knockout in every sense and a fit celebration of Britain's incredibly lively choral scene. Judging from that taster tape, there's a great deal of flirting, too.
I cant wait for this, I think it will be fun to watch and just great :D

Did any one catch it last night?? I was incredible, My partner is a big fan of choirs..and he was moved to tears by the disabled choir ( i know I can not hear them but watching Sharons face was enough ) Russell Watson is a doll.. he is awesome after all that he went thru the past few years ( the brain tumor)
I also hope the choir DREAMZ finds a choir director,, and that was so cool they gave them a 2nd chance !!!!!!!
Looking forward to next week !!!!!!!!!!!:cheer:
I watched it and was well impressed with their abilities. Well worth watching imo.

I liked Dreemz tonight :D
Not that I'm biased or anything but Sharon's my favourite judge :p While the other two are sitting there or writing notes Sharon's grooving to the beat  :D

yes dreemz were great but its hard not to like quite a few of them! the choirs they have picked so far have been really varied and i like some of the modern ones and the traditional ones too. wouldnt know how i could pick just one to win it!

anyone still watching this? i think its really good. they are down to the last 6 choirs now and the public will start voting off on saturday which usually means some terrible decisions will be made!! the standard of all 6 choirs is really high but i really like the gospel choir revelation and the liverpool choir sense of sound.

Yep I am still watching it,, I knew they were going to vote off those women, A HANDBAG OF HARMONIES, they were just too TACKY and gimicky for my taste, was sorry to see OPEN ARTS COMMUNITY CHOIR go. I actually thought they were great.
I am curious to see how they are going to vote Saturday and see the results on Sunday.
ok here is the list of choirs still standing:
ACM GOSPEL CHOIR
THE CITY OF BATH MALE CHOIR
ONLY MEN ALOUD
REVELATION
SENSE OF SOUND

yes i thought the handbag choir was too gimmicky too, was glad when they left. i really liked the open arts comunity choir but i dont think they were quite strong enough in the end. will be interesting to see how the public vote.

well only men aloud won in the end! i think that probably any of the 3 left in the final could have won it as they were all so good! they now get to compete in bbc3 choir of the year and the royal variety performance!
I did like Only Men Aloud but my favourites were Revelation Rule the World was just so emotional. I was gutted when they went oh and becauses i voted like a zillion times.

I just started watching this when it was the final.. useful! .. the choir that won, some of the members of that choir go to my brother's university - they did really well!
It's back next year though, so will probably watch when it's back on again.

my favourite choir overall was revelation but i thought the other 2 were good aswell. i just dont think the public got behind revelation though. they didnt get the votes they needed and definitely didnt deserve to be in the bottom 2 when they were. i really loved them doing rule the world.

I'm the same as you Davey. I tuned in to see what it was like and really enjoyed it. Shame I missed the series.
