View Full Version : BLIND DATE coming back
BLIND Date will soon be back — with a new twist from Simon Cowell and hit producers behind Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor.
The talent contest guru, 48, has bought a share in the rights of the iconic telly dating show.
And new ITV1 boss Peter Fincham is rumoured to be about to give the programme the green light. It has been five years since Blind Date went off our screens.
Host Cilla Black, 65 — who presented the show for 18 years — sensationally quit on air in 2003.
She stunned bosses during the first ever live Blind Date — as she had not even told them the news.
ITV chiefs are searching for talent to front the series, with a host of top Brit telly stars in the frame.
A TV source told The Sun: “Blind Date is an incredible show. We’ve got a lot of new ideas — this could be the biggest show of next year.
“It would have all the elements of Blind Date plus the best bits of Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor.
An ITV source said: “We were offered another dating show, but Peter thinks Blind Date is one of the most iconic ITV shows of all time. It’s early days, but it’s looking very hopeful.”
I loved this show :D It was great, but I preferred the orginal, I think when they brought it back and tried to change bits it wasnt the same :(

BIG Brother host Davina McCall last night emerged as the bookies’ favourite to take over the revamped Blind Date.
The Channel 4 star is 6/1 to take over from legendary host Cilla Black when the show returns next year.
And bosses could be on to a perfect match as Davina, 40, is on the prowl for new projects.
A pal revealed: “There’s no reason why she couldn’t do Big Brother and Blind Date as well.
“She’s been having a long hard think about her career path — getting a new agent and looking at new areas.”
X Factor host Dermot O’Leary, 35, and Geordie duo Ant and Dec, both 32, are equal second faves with bookies Paddy Power, at 8/1.
TV Biz revealed last week that the dating show — which ended in 2003 when Cilla, 65, quit on air after 18 years — is to return to ITV1.
Talent guru Simon Cowell, 48, is making the revamped series with production firm TalkbackThames.
There are loads more, far better presenters than her around. Wish she would just go away and never come back on screen. :wall:

I think they should let it rest. Making changes could spoil it. Or why not just give it a new name?

Don't get me started on them....
I find those hair adverts she does quite strange seeing she is supposedly estranged from her mother - sorry for going off topic. :o

Sorry but they do my head in. I can't see what's entertaining about them.If blind date was to come back I'd like to see someone like Alan Carr present it.

I don't think Ant and Dec would suit presenting Blind Date, I would personally want Davina to present it - I think she would do a good job. :D
ant and dec are useless, never like them! always been very over rated in my opinion. glad to see others agree!
Davina would suit this show very well as she's a chatty and intimate presenter (from her interviews with housemates) she would get down to the nitty gritty and not be scared to ask probing questions
i feel as though tv has moved on from Blind Date though, it was very much a show of the 80s/90s. if it come back now it'd just be pure sleaze and a platform for celeb WAG wannabes
Ant and Dec wouldn't suit Blind Date.
If Davina is hosting then I won't be tuning in. She irritates the hell out of me.

i think davina would be good on blind date, although as bryan said, i dont really think it should be brought back, i think tv has moved on since then and i dont think it would really fit in
:( I love Ant and Dec

I completely agree
Danielle Lloyd has revealed that she wants to resurrect ITV's classic dating show Blind Date.
The Celebrity Big Brother contestant said that her shared Mersey heritage with Cilla Black makes her the perfect candidate for a revamped Blind Date.
"I am from Liverpool like Cilla Black and I grew up watching the show," the Daily Star quotes her as saying. "I think the time is right to be bringing it back to Saturday nights - and even more so if they actually had a single girl like me hosting it."
Black presented Blind Date from 1985 to 2003. At the peak of its popularity, the programme pulled in audiences of 17 million.
Davina McCall was last year made the bookmakers' favourite to present a new series of the show.
Please, no. Just because she is from Liverpool does not make her the right presenter :thumbsdow
BABBLING Stacey Solomon is set to be the new Cilla Black with a dating show.
The I'm a Celeb winner, 22, will present The Love Machine with Radio 1's Chris Moyles, 37.
Guys and girls on the Sky Living show — dubbed the "new Blind Date" — will choose each other on looks alone.
After two couples answer questions on sex, money and fanciability one pair will win a holiday — although a final twist will give them the chance to ditch their date for a new one at the last minute.
Stacey said: "I can't wait for Chris and I to play Cupid."
