THE BBC will be cut to one channel and a radio station in ten years, a report claims today.

The licence fee, which rakes in £4billion a year, will also go as viewers watching programmes online will refuse to pay.

The report, by former Yes, Minister script writer Antony Jay, said the BBC no longer represents viewers and is seen as a propaganda machine for the liberal elite.

 Would be nice for the licence fee to be abolished but I can't quite believe it.

The watch online phenomenon is good and everything but I don't want to lose all the great soaps that are on now! :( If the license fee is abolished are they going to put adverts on the BBC? I watch the BBC the most because they don't have adverts!

I'd rather keep paying the license fee to be honest!

The licence fee is shocking especially for all the crap that is on TV not just the beeb but all channels. Scrapping the Licence would be a bad idea as not everyone has got access to a computer or the internet, what about all these old peoplewho may live on their own or people with moblilty problems who may not be able to get out much and the TV is their only source of entertainment and company. Dropping the price would be better.

hmmmmmm i know it says 10yrs which is a long time but it just sounds a bit strange. if its only 1 channel and 1 radio station how will it cater for all different types of people?

They should do a pricing system based on how much you earn. Like how EMA works.

I don't watch the bbc much, but then I don't watch many channels much. I only watch certain programes. If there are good dramas on the beeb like Spooks, Dr Who, and costume dramas such as Sense and Sensibilty then I will watch BBC1. If not then I watch other channels or turn the tv off. I think it depends on the time of year as there is usually better programmes on during the winter months than there is in the summer.

I only watch BBC 1 and BBC3 :D But I love them :)
But I think BBC2 can be handy when they swap for a bit for the news and the like

I heard that one option might be to allow the BBC to show adverts and thus rake in revenue that way...not sure that they would get anywhere near as much dosh though as they get with the TV licence fee...

I personally think the BBC have spread themselves too thin with all the TV/radio channels they have now...sooo I welcome them cutting back those and focusing on producing quality programmes, and not sooo much the quantity.

I have to agree with PB here...maybe reducing it to 1 channel and 1 radio station, the BBC would focus on making more quality output, rather than quantity.

Personally, I think the licence fee should be paid based on how many BBC shows you watch... out of everything on the BBC, I can say that I hardly watch any BBC programmes in the week. EastEnders is the only BBC show that I watch on a regular basis, but then I tune in for dramas such as Doctor Who, Spooks and Waking The Dead when they are on. I hardly watch any of their digital channels like BBC3 or BBC4 because I find on BBC3 they show endless repeats of Two Pints .. and they make ridiculous programmes such as "F! Off I am Ginger" which frankly are programmes I would be ashamed to pay my TV licence for.

Even if it does get cut, which I don't believe it will; I see BBC1 and 2 staying before any radio stations, and the rest getting axed.

I like all the BBC channels cos when they cover Sports and all that stuff they can but it on BBC2 for a while so we still get BBC 1 :D :D
