EMMERDALE babe Roxanne Pallett has quit — and will make a dramatic exit at the end of the year.

The dark-haired 25-year-old siren — who plays battered wife Jo Sugden — had been determined to leave the hit ITV1 soap last year.

But bosses persuaded her to stay on with a domestic violence storyline, in which Jo was battered and bruised at the hands of her violent husband Andy, played by Kelvin Fletcher.

But things will go from bad to worse as Jo is manipulated even more by cruel Andy before a neighbour steps in.

The actress now plans to move to London and tackle West End stage roles.

A source on the soap said last night: “Roxanne wanted to leave last year but the producers put her at the centre of this big storyline, which is only going to get more harrowing.

“Now she has agreed her leaving terms and will go in a huge exit in December.”

Emmerdale boss Anita Turner said: “Roxanne has given a fantastic performance and it will be an eventful six months for Jo.”

Roxanne blasted into the Dales in 2005 as feisty biker Jo Stiles — and was soon in a love triangle as she nicked Katie Sugden's fella Andy.

But the pair were forced to wed in jail last year after Andy was banged up for manslaughter.

He was sentenced on their wedding day after admitting torching his home with his mum Sarah trapped inside.

Jo has since been a stepmum to Andy’s little girl Sarah.

But Roxanne’s biggest storyline has been the recent gripping domestic violence plot, where Andy has used his wife as a punchbag.

Perhaps his violence gets out of hands and he kills her :hmm: Then he could escape to Spain to be with his dad and Emmerdale will be a much happier place again. Of course, he will be found and extradited (sp?) and sent back to jail.

It has been revealed that Jo will leave Emmerdale later this year and that the character will have a huge exit. Many believe that she will be brutally murdered by Andy.

Roxanne Pallett has revealed that her character Jo Sugden could make a return to Emmerdale in the future.

The actress quit the ITV soap in 2008 when Jo decided to escape from abusive husband Andy (Kelvin Fletcher).

"It was a real honour for me that my character was chosen for that storyline," she told This Is Bristol. "It was the first time that they had explored domestic abuse in such a big way.

"It was a really smart decision to choose Jo because it gave out the message that this can happen to a young, feisty girl. It's not always silent, timid characters that this happens to."

She continued: "It really is an actor's dream to get a story like that. It was a slow burner, which went on for two years. It had to be - you couldn't have them happy one minute and Andy lashing out the next. I lived and breathed that storyline."

Pallet added that Jo could one day arrive back in the village.

"I think it was the right time for my character to leave and it was a positive ending - she left Andy and moved on," she said. "Plus nobody knows where Jo has gone - she wasn't killed off so there is always a chance of her return."

Why don't ex soap cast members go and get their foreheads tatooed with "please can I have my old job back, cause I'm skint and no-one else will employ me" Because that's what they're really asking when the suggest that their character could return to a soap. They're begging for their jobs back.

Former Emmerdale star Roxanne Pallett appears topless in her latest role.

The actress, who played Jo Stiles in the ITV1 soap, stars in American horror movie Lake Placid 3.

The made-for-TV film tells the story of killer crocodiles that terrorise residents of a small community, according to the Daily Mail.

In one scene, a waterfront romp is cut short when Pallett's character's boyfriend is eaten by one of the creatures.

The soap star has also signed up to appear in The Vagina Monologues.
