CILLA Battersby-Brown is to make a big Corrie comeback.
But the gaudy redhead will not be strutting her scuffed stilettos on the Corrie cobbles — she’s going to be causing chaos in Sun City, South Africa.
Actress Wendi Peters is being brought back for a one-off DVD special after her character left to live in Las Vegas last October.
Her flame-haired Corrie family will be winging their way out to South Africa, where Cilla now lives, to film the one-off special’s scenes.
Lovable scamp Chesney (Sam Aston) and knicker-stitching dreamer Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) jet off into the sun next month to film the comedy scenes.
A top soap source told TV Biz: “The Battersby-Browns look a little lost without their mean matriarch Cilla.
“Fiz and Chesney are much loved characters but without Cilla being the evil witch to their Hansel and Gretel, they’ve fallen a bit flat.
Soap bosses have done everything they can to get Wendi back and are thrilled she’s signed up for the DVD.
“The storylines are being kept top secret but Cilla has moved away from Las Vegas and is now working at a casino in Sun City.”
Just like the Cilla fans know and loathe, the grubby gold-digger has another unsuitable boyfriend in tow.
Our source added: “Cilla doesn’t like to be without a man for long.
“This new man makes Les Battersby look like the catch of the century. Fiz and Ches are in for a proper shock.”
And we hear crazy Cilla is coming back bigger and better than ever. The costume department is kitting out Wendi and our source added: “Cilla’s wardrobe will be to die for. Literally. After seeing her new look, Ches might want to be an orphan again.”
