A TEENAGER wanted by police got more than he bargained for when he went to watch The Bill being filmed — he got lifted by the REAL cops.

The unnamed urchin was among a crowd who gathered to watch some location filming.

Actress JoAnne Good, 42, told TV Biz: “We were filming quite a boisterous scene where my character — a thief — was being hassled by some thugs.

“It was quite energetic so attracted quite a big crowd of local people.” JoAnne said the real cops were on hand just to make sure none of the crowd got in the way.

But she went on: “One of them suddenly recognised a lad who was wanted for some crime. There was a real commotion and the lad was eventually arrested.

“No one could believe what was happening - the cast told me nothing like this had ever happened before.

“Maybe the cops could use The Bill to catch more criminals. The crowd thought they were all fake coppers working on the show.”

The outdoor scenes in Mitcham, South London, involved several of the show’s most well-known stars including Lucy Speed, Christopher Fox, Roberta Taylor and Alex Walkinshaw.

It is not quite right, however, to say that makers of The Bill have not encountered real-life dramas before.

We revealed last year how shocked staff and cast stumbled upon a DEAD BODY.

Producers were filming on a rundown estate when crew began feeling sick because of a smell from the flat below.

They called in the local police, who broke down the door to the apartment in Kingston, South West London, and found a dead 60-year-old man.

His body had been lying there for two days.

What a thicko imagining going to watch the bill being filmed when you know there is a chance that real police officers are on location and your wanted for criminal offences.

rather a dim thing to do really.
