Vernon's determined to buy the bar
Airs on Monday, June 30 2008 at 19:30 BST on ITV

Vernon is excited about going to view the bar with Liz, but she confides in Deirdre that she can’t muster up quite the same enthusiasm for the idea. Once at the bar, Vernon can see the potential but it becomes obvious that Liz doesn’t feel the same way. She stalls saying she needs for time to think about whether they can afford it prompting the owner to knock five grand off the asking price. Vernon is convinced this will clinch it for Liz but is there more to her reluctance than meets the eye?

Michelle is feeling embarrassed about her attack on Leanne and confides in Liam that she was wrong about Steve – he is going to propose. In the meantime, however, she is a barmaid down and ironically the person she offers the job to is none other than Becky.

Sally is still amused that Claire thought the fake Lowry was worth something and when she finds her in the yard sorting through a pile of club and concert programmes, she thinks it is ridiculous. But Claire has the last laugh when Lloyd tells her she has struck gold.

Carla and Tony discuss putting the two businesses under one roof and agree that they need more floor space. Tony tells her that he is going to get one or two obstacles removed – namely Rita and Norris and then he needs to work on Kevin.

Elsewhere, Tony has a go at Sean when he spots him skiving.

Airs on Monday, June 30 2008 at 20:30 BST on ITV1

Vernon is still reeling from Liz’s decision not to run the bar with him, but he is stunned when she tells him that coming to view the bar has proved to her that she also wants out of their marriage. He tries to persuade her not to throw everything away but she tearfully confesses that she should never have married him.

Tony and Carla discuss how to play Rita and Norris and wonder whether to wine and dine them. In the end, they decide to stay on home territory at the Rovers and plan their strategy to try and win them round. When Tony offers the market price plus £25,000, Rita can’t help but be interested – much to Norris’s dismay.

Claire is delighted when she gets a cheque for £7,000 for the programmes and can’t wait to tell Ashley the good news. Sally is furious, however, when she finds out and Ashley arrives home to a somewhat frosty atmosphere. He suggests they all go out for a slap up meal courtesy of the windfall, but Sally has a go at Kevin for not emptying the loft before they moved.

Becky agrees to take the job at the Rovers, much to Roy’s disapproval but Jason is extremely pleased to see her behind the bar.

Liz prepares to take a break
Airs on Wednesday, July 2 2008 at 19:30 BST on ITV1

Liz is feeling guilty about dumping Vernon, but tells Michelle she knows she has done the right thing. Keen to get away for a while, she plans a holiday and makes it very clear to Harry Mason that she hasn’t finished with Vernon just to jump straight into bed with him.

Tony has given Rita food for thought, but Norris can’t believe she is even considering selling the business. He points out that it's at the heart of the community. Meanwhile, Rita has started exploring retirement plans – even looking at properties abroad. It looks like Tony may have got his way, despite Norris’s attempts to put a block on the sale.

Sally is still furious with the Peacocks and tells Kevin to ask them to leave. However, Claire and Ashley know they have outstayed their welcome and have already packed their bags. But with number 11 still not in a fit state to live in, where will they go?

Ken compliments Becky on how well she did at the Rovers, but Roy is still not happy with her for taking the job. Jason, meanwhile, takes the opportunity to explain why things went wrong for them and it isn’t long before they are snogging outside the builders' yard, much to Roy’s dismay.

Roy and Becky row in the café

Tony is delighted when Rita tells him that she will accept his offer - subject to a proper valuation. Norris is not happy with Rita's decision but knows that he won't be able to change her mind.

Meanwhile, Tony tells Carla that he is now going to make a move on Kevin. He's not impressed, however, when Kevin turns him down flat saying the business is worth a million pounds. It looks like Tony will have his work cut out persuading Kevin to see sense and sell up.

Becky takes great delight in telling everyone that she is back with Jason. Roy is very disapproving and lets her know in no uncertain terms how he feels about the situation. His attitude annoys Becky and before long, they're rowing in the café and end up saying some very hurtful things to each other.

Vernon is preparing to leave the Rovers but Michelle is worried about him and doesn’t see why he should lose his job as well as his home. As he loads his drum kit into a van, Lloyd takes pity on him and tells him he can bunk up at his for a while.

Becky moves in with Jason and Eileen
Airs on Friday, July 4 2008 at 20:30 BST on ITV1

With too many harsh words already spoken, Roy and Becky are struggling to forgive each other. As she packs her bags, Becky hopes that he will stop her leaving but it doesn't happen so she lashes out and calls him and Hayley weird. When Jason discovers she has been thrown out, he doesn’t hesitate to offer her a bed at his place which she gratefully accepts.

As Eileen gets one new house guest, she loses two others when an excited Sean and Marcus burst in to tell her they have found a flat and are moving out immediately.

Carla and Tony are discussing how he is going to handle Kevin. Tony reckons everyone has their price - especially a man with a wife and two teenage daughters. He approaches him again in the pub and tries to persuade him once more to sell up - but Kevin's not interested. Tony is convinced he is just playing hard-to-get in a bid to increase the price.

Ken is having a coffee with Roger and explains that he doesn’t want to go to the university reunion as he feels like a failure. Roger tells him that he shouldn't feel inferior, giving Ken food for thought.

Elsewhere, Vernon and Lloyd are getting steadily drunk as Vernon complains about his situation and the fact that he should have seen the signs when Liz had her fling with Derek.
