Maggie O'Neill has joined the cast of EastEnders as another member of the ever-growing Branning clan.

O'Neill, known for her role as Sheila Jackson in Channel 4's Shameless, will play Suzy Branning, the fourth oldest of the six Branning children - Jack (Scott Maslen), Max (Jake Wood) Carol, Derek and April being her siblings.

No-nonsense Suzy will reportedly become Phil Mitchell's (Steve McFadden) new love interest when he helps her out of a tricky situation with an ex. Suzy is Phil's type but has no idea what to make of her, while Shirley immediately forms an impression.

Speaking of her new role, O'Neill said: "The Brannings are a great family and I am really excited to become one of them. Suzy is a woman to be reckoned with and I'm looking forward to playing her."

Max kisses Ronnie
Airs on Monday, July 7 2008 at 20:00 BST on BBC One

Peggy's reading the letter she received from Archie as Ronnie enters the room. Peggy reassures Ronnie that Roxy will be in touch in her own time - she's pregnant, so she wouldn't do anything silly. Sean, meanwhile, heads across to Ronnie to see if she's seen or heard from Roxy, but she makes it clear that she wouldn't tell him if she had. Sean, however, isn't sure that she's telling the truth.

Later, Ronnie rushes around to the club to see Jack as his call sounded urgent, but Jack's a little uncomfortable as he prepares to tell Ronnie that he's moving in with Tanya. After hearing the news, Ronnie tries to steer the conversation back onto business, but Jack says that she wanted her to hear the news from him. As she goes to leave, Ronnie wishes him well with his relationship but asks whether he's pursuing Tanya for love or to get back at Max.

Across the Square, Max is on the phone to Suzy and agrees to help her out, before persuading Ronnie to go for a drink with him. Ronnie's captivated by Max as he gives his view of his brother's new romance. Max buys another round of drinks and Ronnie raises her glass, wishing herself a happy birthday. Max seizes the opportunity to try and kiss her. For a split second, she's drawn to him, but she quickly pushes him away.

Peggy sees that Ronnie's distressed at not knowing her sister's whereabouts and Roxy's been ignoring her sister's calls. Peggy, however, suggests that she try phoning Roxy and manages to get her address - she's in Dorset. Peggy and Ronnie head out of the pub, leaving Phil in charge. With Ronnie having had too much to drink, Peggy takes her place behind the wheel and stalls her Jeep. Sean, however, sees the Mitchell women are missing and realises something isn't right…

Elsewhere, Phil's looking for a new house, while Ben worries about the move; Billy tells Peggy about the work on the council flats affecting the kids; Phil apologises to Max for throwing him out of The Vic; Peggy offers Billy and Honey a room at The Vic for a while; and Phil agrees to take some money to Max's sister, Suzy.

Sean's a man on a mission
Airs on Tuesday, July 8 2008 at 19:30 BST on BBC One

Sean pushes Billy for an explanation as to where Roxy is, but all he can tell him is 'Dorset'. Sean's becoming increasingly violent towards him, while Honey suggests that he simply tell him where Ronnie and Peggy have gone. However, Sean hears baby William trying and suddenly heads upstairs. Holding baby William to ransom and revealing that Roxy is pregnant, Sean finally learns that they're in Weymouth.

Meanwhile, on the road, Ronnie sits in silence while Peggy tries to coax her to talk. Ronnie explains that she's spent her whole life picking up the pieces for her sister and when they get there, they're bringing her home. Peggy suggests that Ronnie smothers her sister, but she isn't prepared for the backlash she receives. The atmosphere's tense, so Peggy decides to have another break from driving. In the roadside café, Peggy tries to get Ronnie to open up a little by talking about herself and the pair have a heart-to-heart about the past. It's clear, however, that where Ronnie's daughter's concerned, it's a closed shop. As they leave, they realise that the Jeep has been stolen with all their belongings inside. The sleazy man from the café, however, offers his assistance…

Peggy's surprised when Ronnie tells her that it's her birthday, but they're interrupted by Peggy's phone ringing. She answers and tries to convince the caller that their plan might not be the best in the world. They approach a mansion - they've reached their destination. Ronnie's chin hits the floor when the door opens. Roxy's stood behind Archie: "Hello V. Happy birthday, love."

Elsewhere, Phil's in Watford and visits the address Max gave him - it's a beauty salon. He's disgruntled when he's told that Suzy's already left. However, he finally tracks her down and saves her from a beating, kicking the man out on to the street. Before Phil's even turned for an explanation, Suzy's knocked him out with a statue. As he comes around, he's not in a good way and stumbles towards the door just as Suzy's on the phone to Max. Suzy locks herself in the bathroom with Phil's keys, but when she emerges, the pair see the man Phil gave a beating to earlier with his group of mates…

Ronnie and Roxy discuss the past
Airs on Thursday, July 10 2008 at 19:30 BST on BBC One

Ronnie can't believe where she is and feels betrayed by Peggy. Archie invites them both in, but Ronnie refuses to move. Peggy defends her actions by reasoning that she did it for her and Roxy, but Ronnie's adamant - it's all a game to Archie and all she wants it Roxy out of the house. Roxy's adamant that she's not leaving with Ronnie, while Peggy tells Archie that she wishes she hadn't bothered bringing Ronnie down to see them. If anything, it looks like it's driven them apart. Archie, meanwhile, sheds a tear as he explains how he felt when he realised Ronnie was visiting.

Roxy finally emerges from her room and reluctantly speak to Ronnie. She tells her sister that it's her life and she can do what she wants with it. In the heat of the moment, Roxy stuns Ronnie as to the real reason she disappeared - she wanted to get away from her. However, Roxy manages to convince Ronnie to stay for the night and assures her that she won't have to see their father. Archie and Peggy chat about their respective families over a drink. He tells Peggy that he's missed his girls and explains how he'd even thought up a cover story to see them again.

Ronnie wakes and isn't pleased when she learns that Roxy has gone for a walk. As Archie holds his hand out in the hope of a reconciliation, Ronnie snatches her hand away. Later, on the beach, the Mitchell sisters discuss the past and what the future holds for them. Will they be able to put their differences aside?

Elsewhere, Phil and Suzy fear for their safety as the men who are looking for Suzy try to force their way into the house. As they flirt, Suzy continues to ask Phil about his businesses and his love life. There's definite chemistry between the pair, but she's extremely guarded about her ex. Phil checks on Ben before entering Roxy's room, where he finds Suzy in bed. He throws back the covers and she's stark naked. He hesitates, but can't resist…

Archie drops a huge bombshell on RonnieAirs on Friday, July 11 2008 at 20:00 BST on BBC One

Roxy's intoxicated at the funfair and as she walks away from the carousel, she's startled to see Sean standing in front of her. Sean asks Roxy to hand over the bottle of vodka, but she flatly refuses and tells him that their relationship is over. It's clear Sean is thinking of the baby's health, but Roxy's too drunk to even know what she's saying or doing.

A young man, Harry, emerges from the crowd and asks if Roxy is okay, only for Roxy to turn to him and say that Sean's harassing her. Harry confronts Sean and the pair come to blows, throwing punches at each other. When Sean turns around, Roxy's gone.

Sean finally catches up with her and pleads for another chance. Roxy, however, believes that Sean only wants the baby. When Sean shouts that he loves her, she stops in her tracks. They share a tender kiss, but Roxy still looks uncertain as to their future.

Back at Archie's home, father and daughter have a heated row about their respective situations, with Archie accusing Ronnie of using her sister to fill a void in her life. The discussion then turns to Archie's betrayal when he gave her baby away. However, Archie drops the bombshell of all bombshells on an unprepared Ronnie…
