Another documentary from Strangelove (Same series as My Car Is My Lover).

I will probably watch this one, although it seems quite funny loving the Eiffel tower it's quite sad the story behind why and her life as well...

It's not unusual for couples to visit Paris for a romantic break, but for 37-year-old American Naisho there's a difference. Although her husband is a resident of the city, he isn't human. Last year she married the Eiffel Tower, and changed her name to Mrs Naisho Le Tour Eiffel.

Naisho, who features in Five documentary Strangelove: Married to the Eiffel tower, is one of a small number of women termed objectum sexuals. They are unable to form intimate relationships with people, but are attracted to objects.

It may sound like a joke, but it soon becomes apparent that the women who appear in the film all seem to be emotionally traumatised. As a child, Naisho was taken away from her parents and suffered years of sexual abuse. Amy, another objectum sexual, had a violent father and has Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism that makes it difficult to connect with people. She finds the very idea of sexual contact between people 'repulsive', but has fallen in love with a church banister and a fairground ride.

'I'm convinced it's because of everything that's happened to her,' says Amy's mum. 'She knows objects won't hurt or threaten her, she feels safe with them. My heart breaks that she'll never know what it's like to be loved and physically in contact with another human being.'

I missed why this particular woman has done this but I heard on radio this morning that a woman got married to the Berlin Wall nearly 30 years ago, must be another sad story behind this. I believe that they even had a medical term for this but can't remember it. I suppose you could say that she has a solid relationship.

The woman who married the Berlin Wall (which, by the way, doesn't exist anymore. Does that mean that she's divorced or widowed? :hmm: ) was on Kerrang late night phone in show on Tuesday night.

She said that she hadn't consummated the marriage but she does talk to the wall. And he talks back. She's cheated on the wall with a fence too  I don't want to imagine that

She might have a piece of the wall which was sold off for souvenirs, I have got a piece myself. Mind you, does this mean her marriage is now broken down and they have broken up? :rotfl:

These people are obviously ill.

I think it is totally sick making programs about people in a way which encourages us to laugh at them.

If abuse is at the root of there behaviour then they need help, not exposure to ridcule on natioanl t.v.

I am sorry, I did not mean to offend, I did not see the programme so I don't know what the root of their behaviour is, nor can I comment on how sensitive the programme was toward the people it showed.

Abigail

I didn't see the program either.

What I really want to know is where the producers and researchers found about about mechaphiles and objectum sexuals. Its not like these conditions (for want of a better word) are well known or publicised. I doubt they would have brought up much on the internet whilst researching the programs :hmm:

These people did agree to be in the films, they signed a contract so its not like they were forced into being involved in the program.

The woman last night said her reason for doing the shows and its sounded reasonable, I just cant remember what it was

Hey, I am not getting at you! It is the program makers that need to look at the effect of their actions, and check their motivation.

I am not shooting the messenger, lol

My mate said she watched the show  And she mentioned a girl said, ''I thank you for making this show as it helps people know that there are people in the world like me'' or something like that. So maybe they want to be known and maybe they contacted them I reckon?

They probably think that they are normal - but basically people won't understand, because it isn't normal. They are being exposed to ridicule, but are probable unable to realise it. I am sure that they will know that they have made a mistake now - being recognised by neds as they walk down the street as that weido off the telly who is married to a wall....

I am sure that the producer will have be nice as pie, tell your story to the world and they will understand....... will they heck!

I didn't know if I should have been laughing or crying at this programme. You have to feel for her after all the years of abuse she suffered so it no wonder she was unbalanced but to claim to fall in love with a sword and the Eiffel Tower. Come on get a grip. One question I do have at the end when she returned to Paris to cosumate her marriage she kept calling the tower she. Therefore it's not a traditional marriage but a Gay one are they allowed in France.
