Looks like EastEnders' maneater Clare Bates is about to hop into her final bed.
TV Land can reveal that actress Gemma Bissix will leave the soap after Clare gets exposed as a thoroughly nasty piece of work.
An Albert Square geezer told me: "Clare has been working her way round the men of Walford for the past few months but what she had thought was a masterplan to bag the man of her dreams soon gets out of hand.
"She is forced to flee as it is clear she is not welcome in Albert Square anymore."
Gemma is off at the end of the summer.
This was Gemma's second stint on the square. She played Clare as a kid and then left the soap in 1998, when she went to Hollyoaks to play Clare Cunningham, before returning to EastEnders.
So if there's any casting directors out there looking for someone to play a Clare, Gemma's got bags of experience.

Her return in this has been rubbish imo, totally disappointing.

the problem was she was the exact same character in Eastenders, she was brougtht in to be the next bitch but was just a pale imitation of Janine. She had no others reasons to be in Walford, no friends or family, so after the whole money-grabbing storyline what was left for her?
If they'd brought her back as a nice person then she could have had a long spell on the show, but as it was her character was limited, and I didn't really enjoy her in it, a pity becuase she was amazing in Hollyoaks.

You are right, in my opinion. And let's face it, apart from Ian Beale, there aren't really any well-heeled fellas on Albert Square, so I never understood why she came back in that role.

So glad she's going. She plays the exact same character in Eastenders that she did in Hollyoaks and that's what really annoyed me. We have seen no diversity in Gemma Bissix's acting talent.

she left a nice person.. this was the clare I was expecting to see back not some money grabbing cow... we have Chelsea to cover that role.. and there will never be another Janine.. even that few days with frank's funeral was classic Janine..
I agree she is the same as she was in hollyoaks, so she is just boring and you would of though that Gemma wanted to play a different character

I can't say I am bothered. I never took to the character and I think she was very 1 dimentional. I don't think the storyline she had was much cop either. She was a pale imitation of her own HO's character and of Janine and we don't need her now the latter is back. We also have bitchy characters like May coming back and Stacey and Chelsea who cover the bitchy roles for EE.
I always thought she was one of few weak links with the female cast.

Gemma's spot on :p She was brill in Hollyoaks but Eastenders really let her down. I hope she goes back to Hollyoaks :)

In Gemma defence when she left EE the first time she was still a young girl and it's only through her bitchy character in Hollyoaks that sparked her return to Walford. Once again it's the writers to blame they seen an opening to bring back and old character to boost raitings without really thinking what purpose she was going to bring to the show, which is what I thiink will happen to Bianca and Co and Janine.
Good luck to Gemma in the future I hope she doesn't return to Hollyoaks but widens her acting skills.

To me it felt like she walked out of the HollyOaks set and walked into Walford.. Nothing had seemed different about her and I was really looking forward to seeing a different perspective of acting from her.

Thats exactly what has happened
I quite liked her as a character, especially as she wound Chelsea up, who I hate. It's a shame she wasn't really interested in Bradley; if she wasn't seeing pound signs I think they would have made a good couple. Not gutted that she's going though. I feel really sorry for Dot; she had her son drug her and cause the death of her grandson, and now Claire's going to be exposed as nasty too.

Claire is leaving,,,,,,,, dang I am so glad she is going,,if she had stayed any longer she would have totally destroyed Bradley's character ...
I was thinking ... its the same if Sharon came back,, she has friends but no family to come back to..I am with every one,,, why are they bringing these old characters out of the moth balls ????:searchme:
