Hayley Cropper returns to Corrie

Julie Hesmondalgh will return to her role as Hayley Cropper in Coronation Street later this year.

The 38-year-old actress, who plays a transsexual on the show, was allowed a 12-month break due to exhaustion.

Hesmondalgh said she wanted to spend more time with her husband Ian Kershaw and daughter Martha.

She will appear on screen again for the first time in September. Her character's last storyline involved her coming to terms with meeting her own son, who she last saw when she was a man.

A source told The Mirror: "Julie just wanted to take time off and do normal things like take her daughter to school. Re-charging her batteries and being a mum was top of the agenda.

"Julie is such a popular member of the show that she really has been missed."

I hope Roy doesn't loose any of the banter he is having with Kelly once Haylay returns despite Kelly going to work in the Rovers I hope three of them can still have their comedy moments with the three of them living together.

I hope so too, but I think the scriptwriters know that this works very well, so should not change this.

To be honest I haven't really missed her that much.

will be nice for her to be back alongside Roy, but as others have said I hope this doesn't take away from the great Roy/Becki partnership, they are so funny together, total chalk and cheese!
