Ah, decisions, decisions. Seeking to nudge sales of her Good Girl Gone Bad album past the 5m mark, what should Rihanna do?

A. Give 'Breakin Dishes', a surefire smash from the album, a belated crack at the singles chart.

B. Reissue the album with a new song written by Ne-Yo, the R&B hitmaker who also penned 'Unfaithful' and 'Hate That I Love You'.

Sadly, as you've probably guessed by now, the Bajan pop princess chose option 'B'.

So, Ne-Yo once again imagines Rihanna as a balladeer rather than a booty-shaker, getting her to play the wronged woman over a smooth, elegantly-constructed R&B backdrop. "You're so ugly when you cry," she sneers, sounding a little bit angry but, as ever, mainly rather bored. 'Take A Bow' does what it sets out to do very well, but it's an underwhelming follow-up to the dancefloor rush of 'Don't Stop The Music'.

Take A Bow is number 2! its grown on me a bit but not much :( glad to see it doing well though. probs be no.1 next week being released today, exact same week as last year that Umbrella first went to no.1 !

Year ago this week, Rihanna was sitting pretty atop the singles chart with her first number one, Umbrella. This week she scores her second, with Take A Bow climbing to pole position on sales of 41,005 copies, following physical release.

In the year between Umbrella being released and Take A Bow topping the chart, Rihanna sold 1,341,228 singles and spent an unbelievable 113 weeks in the Top 75, with even her least durable release in that period – Hate That I Love You – persisting for 19 weeks.

Rihanna’s success means that The Ting Tings’ That’s Not My Name slips to second place after only a week in pole position. Each of the five immediately prior number ones had longer runs at the summit, the last to spend just seven days at the top of the chart being Katie Melua and the late Eva Cassidy’s What A Wonderful World duet last December.

I can't believe I am going to say this but.... I LOVE this song and I usually can't stand Rhianna. I think this is her best song to date - I find it so heart warming and I can listen to it over and over again.
