Liam confesses he once had feelings for Carla

Despite their previous closeness at the funeral, there is still clear distance between Liam and Maria. Liam is determined to go back to work to try and get back to normal but in doing so, acts hard towards Maria and he leaves feeling guilty.
Over at the factory, Carla is surprised to see Liam at work. He realises he shouldn't be there saying he needs to register his baby's death. Carla wants to go with him but Liam insists he will be fine. Carla attempts some flirty banter but Liam is not interested.
Later, Liam and Maria are attempting to talk about their feelings when they are interrupted by a knock and the door from Carla with a bottle of wine. Liam is angry and slams the door in her face, leaving her standing hurt on the street. Maria is shocked. Putting his cards on the table, he confesses to Maria he did once have feelings for her - how will Maria react?
Fiz is trying to encourage Kirk to eat, worried that he is upset about Maria and the baby. Fiz returns home with some food for Kirk, only to feel frustrated that Julie is already cooking for him. She is even more frustrated when they offer her food to Schmeichel.
Across the road, we are introduced to Audrey's new temp stylist Natasha, as Gail hurries over asking for an urgent hair appointment. Gail explains she needs her hair doing today as she is meeting with her father Ted. Audrey is taken aback by this news, but Gail's plans are almost scuppered when Tina arrives announcing she is moving into David's room and that she never wants to go home to her mum. The evening takes an even stranger twist when Ted reveals the details about his partner's death.
Liam's torn between Maria and Carla

Liam and Maria continue in a tense silence after Maria asks if they have a future together. When Liam replies that he doesn't know, Maria announces that she is going to ring Fiz to see if she can stay with her for a while.
Out on the Street, Liam desperately tries to persuade Maria that they are not splitting up. Carla arrives and asks what's going on. Maria tells her that they have split up and Carla succesfully manages to hide her delight. Will she make a move on Liam?
Surrounded by used tissues, Maria has a heart-to-heart with Fiz. Fiz thinks maybe Liam is telling the truth, that his feelings for Carla are in the past. Maria tells her that there was only one fool in the marriage and that was her.
Later, Carla is alone in her flat - she's clearly thinking of Liam. As she paces the flat and pours herself some wine, the buzzer goes. Liam has shown up soaking wet from the rain wanting to talk. As they argue, Liam blames her for everything. Carla challenges him, stating that he fancies her like mad and that his feelings for her are the root cause of everything. As he goes to leave, Maria calls him on the mobile - torn between the two women in his life, Liam has a decision to make.
Back at the Platts', Gail is still in shock over her father's announcement that he is gay. Tina is busy asking lots of questions. Gail struggles with the correct vocabulary, even referring to Ted as being 'normal' when he was with Audrey and clumsily asking if she was the result of an experiment. Later, when Audrey meets up with them and asks Ted if he wants to go for a drink in the Rovers, Gail can't resist dropping the bombshell news.
Elsewhere on the Street, Becky and Jason have their first row following Jason's refusal to go clubbing. Also, Leanne lands herself a job behind the bar at the Rovers.
Tina's mother arrives on the Cobbles

It’s the morning after Liam and Carla's night together. Liam comes out of the bathroom and starts gathering his clothes. Carla appears, teasing him with his shirt. Liam feels awkward and says one of them should be opening the factory. Carla and Liam pull up outside the factory and as Maria approaches, Carla tells him to think fast. Liam lies and tells her they have been out for breakfast. Maria tells him she wants them to register the baby's death. Liam agrees. They set off together, very distant and not knowing what to say to each other.
At the factory, Liam is deep in thought at his desk. Carla comes over and says she is going home. She drops a key to her flat in front of Liam, he doesn't touch it. Carla tells him they are right for each other and that he knows where she is. She bends down to kiss him but he shakes his head. She leaves him lost in his thoughts.
At the Battersbys', Fiz is making a fuss over an unwell Chesney. Fiz is still convinced that Chesney is too poorly for school and as she leaves the house, she bumps into Kirk and Julie. Julie starts fussing over Chesney also, much to Fiz's annoyance.
Over at the Platts', Gail has telephoned Tina's mother letting her know that Tina is OK. While Ted and Gail are looking through old photographs there is a knock at the door. Tina's mother Anna barges in, demanding to know what Tina is playing at. Anna and Tina argue after Anna calls David a criminal and Tina admits to her mother about the baby. The argument escalates and Gail wastes no time in throwing Anna out.
Elsewhere on Coronation Street, Liz is missing Vernon and keeping herself busy by doing jobs in the bar. Steve tells Betty how his mother is pining for Vernon, but when Harry appears, Liz is all smiles and eager to serve him. Also, Leanne starts work behind the bar.
Rosie catches Carla and Liam on camera

Underworld is closed. The factory ladies are waiting outside and neither Liam or Carla are answering their phones. Embarrassed that she has left her factory keys at her desk, Rosie says she has keys to Carla's flat so she will get the spare factory keys. The factory workers head off for a brew whilst they wait. But as she reaches Carla's street, Rosie stops in her tracks and watches in amazement as Liam steps out of the door backwards with Carla's arms around his waist. Rosie hides and watches them kiss, filming all on her mobile phone.
After an oblivious Liam walks past, she checks her phone but then drops it making a loud noise. Liam has crossed the road by now but Carla hears the noise. As Rosie picks up her phone, she looks up to find Carla over her. Rosie pretends she has dropped an earring but Carla knows for sure that she saw her and Liam. But she has no idea the whole thing was caught on camera...
Over at the café, Maria opens up to Marcus. She confides in him that she misses Liam. It's clear to Marcus that Maria is obviously regretting the split. Marcus tells her they are both exhausted and that she should talk to Liam.
Liam arrives home to find Maria already there. He's shocked to see her and she appears scared of saying the wrong thing. She begins to tell him how she feels and begs him to take her back. How will he react?
Meanwhile, Fiz is still frustrated with Julie and her interference with Chesney. Julie offers to help Chesney with his lines, but Fiz abruptly tells her she has already offered. Julie continues questioning Chesney about what is wrong with him - creating even more tension between her and Fiz, while at the same time making Chesney feel awkward.
Julie misreads the situation and tells Kirk that Fiz is jealous of their relationship. Kirk doesn't believe her, but Julie insists that he needs to spell it out to Fiz. Kirk is confused, as he doesn't really know what he is spelling out.
Elsewhere on Coronation Street, Paul is feeling down about the thought of going to prison; Ted offers to drive Gail to the young offenders' unit to see David; and Deirdre begins to notice Liz's affections for Harry.

As Maria puts her case to a weary Liam, he starts to soften towards her and come round to the idea of them getting back together. He eventually suggests that they should go away somewhere with Ozzy to try and get back on track. Maria is delighted - but unbeknown to her, Liam has one more hurdle to get over before their reconciliation can happen. How is Carla going to react to the news that he is choosing Maria over her once more?
David is surprised when Gail arrives at visiting time with Ted in tow. David realises that his grandfather is no pushover and tells him about life in the institution but can't resist a few digs when he realises Ted is gay. Ted is more than a match for David, however. Once they return from the visit, Ted tells Gail he is leaving. Has Gail's troubled family life frightened her father off?
Kirk tells Julie that he has spoken to Fiz and got an assurance from her that she doesn't fancy him any more. Still anxious to stake her claim, Julie tells Fiz that she and Kirk are going on a romantic night out. Fiz couldn’t be more relieved at the thought of having the house to herself for the night.
Elsewhere, Harry invites Liz out for a drink but she refuses; and Carla gives Rosie a designer bag in a bid to buy her silence.
