I would like Hollyoaks to win, but realistically it would never happen! They never get recognised really at these awards..

I think Eastenders will win, like they do every year.. to be fair though, they've had a good year. :)

Eastenderds will win, and it deserves it this year. Would be nice to see Hollyoaks win, but they haven't got a big enough fanbase.

So my next choice would be Coronation Street but I think Eastenders will win as usual :)

Who knows Hollyoaks might win! After all Holby City won a bafta and no-one was expecting that! The underdog might triumph yet :p

My second choice would be Eastenders.

did we not already have a thread on this??? It is Eastenders for me.. they have improved the most in the past year with some cracking storyline (although max/stacey dragged on a bit). You had Stella/may which was fantastic

it would be nice if hollyoaks won cos its been really good this year but thats never gonna happen! therefore id like ee to win it (seeing as thats the only other soap i watch!) and it has been good this year. realistically its only gonna be out of ee and corrie, none of the other soaps stand a chance!

Eastenders will probably win, but it would be nice if Hollyoaks won it as they have had some brilliant original storylines over the last few years, not just following what other soaps are doing. Hollyoaks is like Brookside not afraid to confront taboo or difficult stories.

The results of the soap awards: I am very, very pleased!

BRITISH SOAP AWARDS, LONDON -- EastEnders scooped the main prize at this year's British Soap Awards, but Hollyoaks was the big winner on the night.

The Channel 4 soap walked away with six out of 14 gongs at the ceremony, including best actor and best actress for Chris Fountain (Justin Burton) and Emma Rigby (Hannah Ashworth) respectively.

Clare Cunningham (Gemma Bissix) driving off a cliff was recognised in both the most spectacular scene and best exit categories, while Matt Littler (Max Cunningham) and Darren Jon Jeffries (Sam 'OB' O'Brien) were named best screen partnership. Roxanne McKee (Louise Summers) was also voted sexiest female.

EastEnders came away with four awards in total, including the coveted best soap prize. Jo Joyner (Tanya Branning) lifted the best dramatic performance gong, while Jamie Borthwick (Jay Brown) triumphed in the same category for a young actor or actress. Max and Stacey’s affair was also named best storyline.

Coronation Street picked up five awards, including best comedy performance for
Maggie Jones (Blanche Hunt) and best newcomer for Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre).

The ITV soap also fared well in the viewer-chosen categories, with Rob James-Collier (Liam Connor) scooping sexiest male and Jack P. Shepherd winning best villain for his portrayal of David Platt.

Meanwhile, Emmerdale won best single episode for 'Daniel's Death'.

BBC daytime medical soap Doctors failed to pick up any gongs at this year's ceremony, which was hosted by This Morning presenters Fern Britton and Phillip Schofield.

The lifetime achievement award went to ex-Corrie star Liz Dawn, while Emmerdale line producer Tim Fee won the special achievement award.

WHY exactly sure im a big EE fan but i have to say this year not that great nothing big or spectacular has happened, (if it has i cant remember)

The best storylines are still in process Whitney/tony, Ronnie/Danielle but they havent reached best soap material yet

the likes of hollyyoaks should have easily wiped the floor with it this year,

as I said previously, I can not say any thing about the other soaps cos I have never seen any of the others, ie HOLLY OAKS AND CORNATION STREET. I think East Enders will probably win , cos they have had a great story lines... Doctors is OK,, I never realy could get into it.
