Blanche Injured

Coronation Street actress Maggie Jones has been hospitalised after having a fall outside the soap's set.

The actress, 73, who plays Blanche Hunt, was injured at the Marriott Manchester Victoria & Albert Hotel, reports the Daily Star.

She injured her shoulder and knee in the accident and was taken to the local Accident and Emergency. The soap star is a regular resident at the hotel when she is filming scenes at the nearby Granada studios.

Jones is expected to return to filming on the ITV series in two weeks. A show spokesperson said: "The cast and crew of Coronation Street wish her a speedy recovery and hope to see her soon. She is loved by everyone."

Coronation Street actress Maggie Jones has returned to work after being hospitalised in a fall, The Mirror reports.

The 73-year-old, who plays Deirdre Barlow's cantankerous mother Blanche Hunt, injured her arm, knee and shoulder when she fell in her room at the Marriott hotel, where she regularly stays when filming at the nearby Granada studios.

An onlooker said Jones "looked quite frail" as she was helped to her taxi for the journey to the Corrie set.

A soap source commented: "Everyone is delighted she has returned."
