Monday 7 April 2008

When Ross (Samuel Anderson) witnesses Shane (Paul McEwan) making a snide comment to Donna (Verity Rushworth), on her first day back to work, he grabs him and threatens him. Shane retorts that it is a bit late to start backing up Donna now and Ross feels wretched when Donna agrees with him. Will Ross be able to convince Donna to forgive his betrayal?

Meanwhile, when Daz (Luke Tittensor) passes his driving test, Scarlett (Kelsey-Beth Crossley), after talking to Debbie (Charley Webb), decides to buy him a car. When Matthew (Matt Healy) and Jimmy (Nick Miles) refuse to let her have access to her trust fund, Debbie offers her a loan with interest. Is Scarlett naïve enough to except Debbie's offer?

Over at the Woolpack, Eli (Joe Gilgun) tells Carl (Tom Lister) and Donald (Michael Jayston) that Matthew (Matt Healy) is paying him to throw a sickie tomorrow and asserts they beat Matthew’s offer. They both tell Eli to get lost,and furious, Carl tells Donald that he is going to confront Matthew. Will Donald convince Carl that they should approach this is a more mature way or will hot headed Carl ignore his partner's advice?


Tuesday 8 April

Carl (Tom Lister) is furious when Matthew (Matt Healy) refuses his trucks access to the King-owned rubbish depot despite their agreed contract. Refusing to take it lying down, Carl arranges for all trucks to dump the rubbish on the steps of Home Farm instead. How will Matthew react when he finds his doorstep covered in rubbish?

Elswhere, Daz (Luke Tittensor), thrilled with his present, takes Scarlett (Kelsey Beth Crossley) for a drive and it is not long before they start taking advantage of their privacy. In a state of undress, Daz and Scarlett are horrified to spot Ross (Samuel Anderson) checking their car out. As the couple put their clothes back on they are relieved to see Ross heading back to his car. Will the loved up teenagers be made to pay for their moment of passion?

Meanwhile, at the Woolpack, Katie (Sammy Winward) decides she’s had enough of being gossiped about and publicly declares that she and Gray (Christopher Villiers) are in love and are having a baby together. Back at home, Gray tries to comfort Katie but fails to say the words she needs to hear: I love you.


Wednesday 9 April

At the Woolpack, Viv (Deena Payne) proudly hands the cheque to the charity representative in front of the villagers and local press. Halfway through her speech Viv is horrified to see the police turn up. As they mount the podium and arrest her for obtaining money by deception Viv protests her innocence. Will the villagers believe her pleas?

Elsewhere, Katie (Sammy Winward) decides to give Gray (Christopher Villiers) some cufflinks that her father left her. As she puts them into his jacket pocket he catches her and accuses her of snooping. Will he realise his mistake or is this the end for Katie and Grayson?


Thursday 10 April

At the police station, DI Williams (Annie Fitzmaurice) confronts Viv (Deena Payne) over a copy of a contract she has signed making her chief executive of Happy Smiles. She argues that Freddie asked her to sign it but that it was just for legal purposes. He then asks her why she transferred £50,000 into her personal account five days later. Viv argues she has no knowledge of this account but will the police believe her pleas of ignorace?

Meanwhile, at the Hotten Chamber of Commerce luncheon, fists start to fly between Matthew (Matt Healy) and Carl (Tom Lister). Carl leaves but soon realises that Matthew has followed him. The two argue, and when Carl comments that it’s a good job he killed Tom, Matthew violently attacks his brother and leaves him barely conscious. At the hospital, when Carl wakes up, Donald (Michael Jayston) urges him to call the police but will Carl shop his brother?

Elsewhere, when David (Matthew Wolfenden) moots the idea of him and Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman) getting back together, Jasmine is horrified and claims he has got no chance. Humiliated, David lists her shortcomings but Miles (Ayden Callaghan) arrives and squares up to him in defence of Jasmine. Jasmine is impressed by Miles’ chivalry but will it make her face her true feelings for him?

Friday 11 April

When Hilary (Paula Wilcox) marches up to Viv (Deena Payne) and shouts at her claiming she’s used her baby grandson’s memory for personal profit, Viv is close to tears. Hilary makes it clear that prison is too good for her. Back at home, Viv distraught, cries uncontrollably as she tells Bob she is not sure how she’s going to get through another day.

Elsewhere, Carl (Tom Lister) promises Donald (Micheal Jayston) that Matthew (Matt Healy), as far as he is concerned, is no longer his brother. Donald, however, is not convinced and decides to keep a closer eye on Carl.

Over at the Woolpack, Lily (Anne Charleston) and Pearl (Meg Johnson) host their speed dating event. They are disappointed by the lack of male talent when only two men turn up. Will either find the man of their dreams?

Donald (Michael Jayston) tells Carl (Tom Lister) he’s got someone in mind for his PA but Carl claims he’s already put an ad in the paper and will select someone himself, insisting Donald can trust him. Matthew (Matt Healy)sees an opportunity and tells Lexi (Sally Oliver) to apply, insisting she’s living at Home Farm rent free and he’ll make it financially worth her while if she takes the job and spy on him. Lexi agrees but can she persuade Carl that she's friend not foe?

Elsewhere, Hilary returns home and is both surprised and moved to see Laurel holding baby Arthur (Billy Harrower). Later that day, Hilary moots to Doug that she thinks Laurel and Ashley (John Middleton) should get the cystic fibrosis tests done sooner rather than later. Pushing the point home that Mel has the condition in her family, is Hilary onto something?

Meanwhile, having helped out at yesterday’s do, Val (Charlie Hardwick) is keen to organise another speed dating event at the Woolpack. Later that day, she discovers the Malt Shovel is being refurbished and asserts that the Woolpack could do with being spruced up too. Is Val about to perform her own extreme makeover?

Tuesday 15 April

Chas (Lucy Pargeter) discovers that Lexi (Sally Oliver) wants the job as Carl’s PA and gets suited and booted and applies for the job herself. Carl (Tom Lister) is stunned but quickly realises Chas doesn’t want the job, she just wants to warn him that Lexi might be in cahoots with Matthew (Matt Healy).Carl thanks her for the warning and hints that he’s going to be able to have some fun with Lexi. Later when Donald (Michael Jayston) introduces his favourite candidate, Carl announces the position has been filled, indicating Lexi. Caught between two brothers, could sexy Lexi be about to walk into a trap?

Meanwhile, Pollard (Chris Chittell) is shaken to open an envelope containing a blackmail letter and photos of him with Rosalind (Philippa Howell). Pollard tells David (Matthew Wolfenden) about the letter and he replies that he saw Debbie (Charley Webb) nearby when he was on his way in. Pollard meets with Rosalind to tell her about the blackmailer but she tells him she is not in the position to help. Back at home, now suspecting Carl, Pollard is growing more desperate and asks David to help him break into Dale view. Has Pollard found his man?

Elsewhere, Hilary (Paula Wilcox) can’t shake the hunch that Arthur (Billy Harrower) might be Laurel’s child but feels unable to share it with anyone.She later compares a baby photo of Laurel to one of Arthur and finds the resemblance uncanny, leaving her sick to the stomach. Will she be able to convince others of her fears?

Wednesday 16 April

Hilary (Paula Wilcox) ropes Doug (Duncan Preston) into visiting the hospital with her to discover more about Daniel’s medical history, and a sympathetic Dr Marshall (Howard Gay) agrees to investigate. Later on, Ashley (John Middleton) and Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) are stunned when the doctor arrives to say there is an anomaly in Daniel’s records. Explaining further, Marshall delivers the startling news that Laurel and Daniel’s blood groups are incompatible, therefore she cannot be his mother. How will Laurel deal with this latest blow to her shattered heart?

Meanwhile, Paddy (Dominic Brunt) receives a summons to appear in court for driving without due care and attention. After he takes his anger out on an innocent Jamie (Alex Carter), Chas (Lucy Pargeter) feels forced to warn the vet that unless he curbs his outbursts, he’ll have no business left, driving ban or not. Can Paddy forget about his personal problems for the sake of the practice?

Thursday 17 April

Dr Marshall (Howard Gay) continues to explain his findings about Daniel, letting slip that Hilary (Paula Wilcox) made first contact. The revelation infuriates Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy), forcing Ashley (John Middleton) to question Hilary’s state of mind. Dr Marshall stands by the facts so Laurel launches into a furious tirade at her mother, urging her to seek help. The mood worsens later on as Hilary refuses to stay her tongue and Laurel slaps her across the face. Still unabashed, Hilary wonders how Greg (Shaun Prendergast) and Mel (Caroline Strong) will cope with their loss. Is Arthur the true son of Laurel and Ashley?

Elsewhere, Pollard (Chris Chittell) sets up a surveillance camera to snare David (Matthew Wolfenden). David returns to the barn and, sensing an intruder, grabs a mop. When Pollard tries to escape he cops a mop to the head courtesy of his son. Back at home, David questions why his dad had broken into the barn and Pollard angrily accuses him of extortion. David desperately tries to prove Pollard wrong, to the extent of offering financial help to his father. Pollard is guilty and refuses to take his son’s money, using his own to pacify the blackmailer. Realising how passionate his father is about protecting his relationship, David desperately tries to reassure him that the blackmailer will now be satisfied. But does he really believe this and how long before the true blackmailer reveals their identity?

Also, Miles (Ayden Callaghan) comes clean to Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman) about his and Debbie’s (Charley Webb) plan. Confessing that he wanted to make her jealous, Jasmine reluctantly admits she was. Finally admitting their shared attraction, the pair share a lingering kiss. Is it time for their romance to blossom?


Friday 18 April

Although Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) insists that she doesn’t want an investigation into the possible baby swap, an official from Hotten NHS trust says they have no choice now the matter’s been brought to their attention. A blood sample is then taken from a reluctant Laurel and Ashley (John Middleton). When Laurel asserts that it is surely just an admin error the official replies that at this stage they can’t rule anything out.

Meanwhile, Paddy (Dominic Brunt) tells Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) about his court date and she admits that her statement to the police is probably going to sound pretty bad. She tells him that she doesn’t blame him for the accident but a worried Paddy retorts that the court is probably not going to see it like that.

Over at the Woolpack, Lexi (Sally Oliver) confronts Chas (Lucy Pargeter) about the fact that she tried to stop Carl (Tom Lister) giving her the job. Chas makes it clear that it was because she is sure Lexi will be using her job to get close to Carl in other ways. Getting angry, Lexi asserts that in that case it is probably best that they are no longer friends. Will Chas agree that their friendship is over?
