April 2008 spoilers

What a month April is going to be for the Platts! Things come to a dramatic head when Gail discovers who was responsible for her injuries. Although things don't look like they can get any worse for the troubled mum, could the aftermath of these events actually be the making of David?

The rainy month should be a time of celebration for Gail as her 50th birthday comes round - but she really doesn't have much reason to party.

Gail's not the only one with distressing times ahead. Maria ‘s in for some heartbreaking news and faces a tough ordeal. Will she and Liam get through it?

At least someone in the Street has a spring in their step. There's a well-deserved romance on the cards for hapless Kirk. But who is the new lady in his life and will the relationship be built to last?

Meanwhile, there's a shock in store for Audrey when a blast from the past turns up. But is the surprise good or bad and where will it lead?

At Valandros, the ongoing investigation into the fire continues. But how will Paul react when he uncovers Leanne’s manipulation? He's obviously angry, disappointed and humiliated, so does this mean he'll seek revenge and turn her in to the police?

Mon 31 Mar 7.30

Leanne praises Paul's bravery in being willing to go through with her arson plan.

The manipulative blonde suggests he uses a candle to start the blaze.

They're both nervous but the the thought of a future with Leanne is pushing Paul to go through with it. Will he or won't he?

At the Platts', Gail wills herself to remember what happened when she fell and has a breakthrough.

David is terrified. Is he on the road to being found out?

Mon 31 Mar 8.30

Leanne's acting ability is put to the test when she arrives at the restaurant to find her "dream" has gone up in smoke.

Paul's feeling nervous about starting the blaze and asks if he can spend the night with Leanne. How will she get out of this one?

At the Platts’, the police question Gail while David and Tina anxiously wait in the cafe, dreading the potential consequences.

Finally, Steve worries that he hasn’t been spending enough time with Amy, because of the drama with Michelle and Alex.

He laments to Lloyd that he’s ended up with a lot of baggage.

Is Steve doubting his relationship with Michelle?

Wed 2 April 7.30

The police tell Leanne they believe the blaze at the restaurant could have been arson.

It was time for her to put on her best ‘shocked’ face to avoid looking suspicious.

Paul arrives at Leanne's flat to find Dan there. Is it dawning on him that she's blatantly used him and will he spill the beans to the police?

Meanwhile, Gail's memory continues to return and Tina tells David she can't take the guilt anymore. Does Tina tell Gail what really happened?

Elsewhere, Eileen is getting increasingly annoyed at Lauren's failure to pay her rent.

Fri 4 Apr 7.30

The final piece of the jigsaw finally falls into place for Gail when Tina's strange behaviour triggers a flashback.

How will she deal with David, after remembering what he did?

Meanwhile, Leanne asks a sulky Paul if they can discuss the insurance claim and is stunned when he confesses his feelings for her aren't a crush - he's head over heels in love with her.

He's bitterly disappointed when she admits she doesn't feel the same. But will he let her off the hook so easily?

And at the Rovers, has Betty cooked her last hot pot?

Although Gail can’t quite recall being pushed, she knows David was responsible for her fall.

David cracks under the strain as things come to a head. It's clear he’s on the verge of a breakdown.

Elsewhere, Steve steps in to help Michelle when he realises she's upset that Nick's spending time with Ryan. He speaks to Alex, but will his words have an impact?

And finally, Liz is annoyed when Vernon fails to complete the smoking shelter at the Rovers.

Coronation Street's Maria Sutherland faces pregnancy heartbreak in an upcoming storyline, The Sun reports.

Hairdresser Maria, played by Samia Smith, is rushed to hospital when she realises her baby has stopped kicking.

A soap insider revealed: "The scripts are absolute tearjerkers. Because the pregnancy is so advanced, the midwives at the hospital advise her that it may be best to have her labour induced straight away.

"So she has to go through the terrible ordeal of giving birth to her lifeless baby.

"Samia Smith is a terrific actress but she couldn’t help being affected by these harrowing scenes."

It's Rosie's who interferes, she shows Maria a picture on her phone of Liam leaving Carla's flat when a drunken Liam stays over with his sister-in-law for the night. Apparently, this triggers the miscarriage but Liam really blames himself for the loss of his unborn child. :crying:
