Meanwhile, the police are looking for witnesses and Claire (Julia Haworth) is quick to mention she saw an agitated looking Jason (Ryan Thomas) leave the Platts around the same time as Gail's fall. Back at the hospital, David struggles to contain his panic when the doctor informs them that she's regained consciousness and is ready for questioning. Is this the end of the line for David?
Carla (Alison King) is bemused when Tony (Gray O'Brien) goes cold on her after he overhears her chatting to Liam (Rob James-Collier) on the phone. This episode is written by Martin Allen, produced by Steve Frost and directed by Stuart Davids.
Monday 17 March 8.30 - 9pm
David (Jack P Shepherd) is on tenterhooks as they gather round Gail’s (Helen Worth) bedside, but as she starts to speak and it becomes clear she has no recollection of the fall and much to David's relief, the last thing she can remember is having an argument with Jason (Ryan Thomas). Jason’s called into the station and tells the police his side of the story – he did have a row with Gail and she did slap him but he never pushed her down the stairs. The police officer reveals he's the only suspect at the moment and asks him to think if there's anyone else who'd want to harm Gail. He reveals that David once fantasised about killing his mum but the police are sceptical when he reveals he’s the only one who heard it. Will Jason end up taking the blame for David's crime? Will Gail remember what really happened?
Carla (Alison King) is surprised when she arrives home to discover they're having a dinner party. The evening is a success and as they all exchange stories about how romantic their partners are, Tony (Gray O'Brien) shocks everyone when he asks Carla to marry him. Carla assumes it's a drunken gesture and the atmosphere is awkward as everyone waits for her to accept. As Carla hesitiates, Tony produces a huge diamond engagement ring and she finally accepts. However, as everyone congratulates her, its clear Carla feels she was set up by Tony. Will they make it down the aisle?
Paul (Tom Hudson) is jealous when Dan (Matthew Crompton) takes Leanne (Jane Danson) for a drink in the Rovers. As they flirt, Leanne’s pleased when she confesses the truth about her escort days and Dan doesn’t seem too perturbed. Will romance blossom between them?
Elsewhere, Vernon (Ian Reddington) reveals his latest idea for the pub – a smokers’ garden.
This episode is written by Joe Turner, produced by Steve Frost and directed by Stuart Davids.
Wednesday 19 March 7.30 - 8pm
Gail (Helen Worth) is feeling lucky to be alive and admits that she’s still confused about the speculation over Jason (Ryan Thomas). Meanwhile, Audrey (Sue Nicholls) goes to the yard to speak to Jason herself and when he tells her they were rowing because he thought Sarah had had an abortion, she starts to consider other possibilities as she recalls whose partner really has had an abortion. She resolves to confront David (Jack P Shepherd) and find out exactly what’s going on.
Carla (Alison King) is enjoying the attention she’s receiving after the engagement and secretly hopes that it's all making Liam (Rob James-Collier) jealous. However, when Tony (Gray O'Brien) proposes to her again when no one is around she happily accepts.
Meanwhile, Michelle (Kym Ryder) is panicking about Ryan (Ben Thompson) going to Cornwall and has grilled Nick over every aspect of the trip, however, it's clear she's more worried that she's going to lose her son to Nick.
This episode is written by Simon Crowther, produced by Steve Frost and directed by Stuart Davids.
Friday 21 March 7.30 - 8pm
Audrey (Sue Nicholls) bites the bullet and asks David (Jack P Shepherd) to tell her the truth – did he push Gail down the stairs? David manages to front it out and when Audrey states that he’d have a motive if he’d heard about Tina’s abortion, David feigns shock. Audrey buys his performance but Bill (Peter Armitage) doesn't buy it.
As they leave, Bill warns a worried David that he's on to him and, shaken by their suspicions, David asks Tina (Michelle Keegan) to lie that she was with him when Gail fell. Tina’s horrified when he confesses that he’s responsible for her fall and despite his claim it was an accident, Tina doesn't want to get involved in his lies. As he tries to convince Tina, Bill has made a secret phone call to the police and he's desperate when they arrive to question him at the station. Will Tina come through for him?
Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) is due back from holiday and Kirk (Andrew Whyment) is dreading having to tell her about Chesney (Sam Aston) being in foster care. When Fiz arrives back on the street she heads straight to No 5 with a present for Chesney and realises something’s up as soon as she sees how tidy the house. She’s furious as Kirk and Roy (David Neilson) reveal what happened and resolves to bring her brother home.
Elsewhere, Michelle (Kym Ryder) puts on a brave face as she says goodbye to Ryan (Ben Thompson) who’s leaving with Nick (Robert Horwell). Steve (Simon Gregson) tries to cheer her up with some flowers and some money for a pampering day at the spa, but she's still worried she’s alienated Alex and is about to lose Ryan.
