Cieran to come back?

Boyzone star Keith Duffy has revealed that he would be willing to return to Coronation Street.

The singer and actor, who played barman Cieran McCarthy, has expressed a desire to make a comeback to the Street after he finishes work on the Boyzone reunion tour.

"I would love to go back to Coronation Street," Keith told the Sunday Mirror. "The people working there became very good friends of mine. After the tour I'll have more time to focus on acting and who knows - I could be back on the Street, even for a few months."

Duffy joined Corrie in 2002, but he decided to quit after two and a half years because he wanted to spend more time with his family.

I said that to my mum. She really wants him to return. I would too, but he doesn't know that many people does he? I really hope he does return though :p That could be a possibility Perdi :p. :lol:.

I thought he left rather abrubtly last time. I'd like to see him back tho even just to see him ask where everyone he knew has gone. Shelley gone, Charlie dead, Tracy in prison for murder :) lol

He got arrested for jumping ship, if I remember, or legged it because the military (?) police were going to get him. Dev is still there but sadly so Sunita. :(

lol me neither actually! i seem to remember it wasnt a very good exit though. I think the one your thinking of was the first time he left, then after that he ended up returning again sometime later

Keith Duffy has revealed that he expects to return to Coronation Street in the near future.

The 34-year-old, who starred as Rovers barman Ciaran McCarthy between 2003 and 2005, told ITV.com that he is eager to come back to the soap.

"The character was never killed off," he said. "They left it open for me maybe one day going back. I'm still quite close to the producers in Corrie, in fact I went and visited them there not so long ago while Boyzone was in Manchester, and they gave me a very nice little welcome back. So one day!"

Duffy suggested that he will return to Weatherfield after completing his commitments to Boyzone, going on to hint that his character might be gay.

He said: "My time right now is obviously dedicated to the lads and we're having a great time, we're really enjoying ourselves. But everything comes to an end eventually, so maybe if it does I'll go back and get Ciaran McCarthy out of the closet.
