Coming soon to Soapboard's is a brand new post-watershed drama about a group of South London residents.

The drama will be penned by former Devon Seas writer Bryan Turner, who released the following statement earlier today.

"With the end of Devon Seas, I felt it time to focus on a new project: this being Passions. The drama will explore the relationships of a group of residents living in a wealthy part of London. Passions will be the first post watershed drama. Being posted in the Mile High Club, the show will deal with more adult themes and storylines and is set to be a very exciting new show!"

Natasha Jones

Formally a character in Devon Seas, Natasha leaves Baymoore following her horrific attack and reunites with her mother. The pair have had a temperamental relationship over the years, but she is more than willing to help her daughter in her hour of need. Natasha is sexy and independent, but recent events have destroyed her confidence, it will be a long road to recovery.

Jacqui Jones

Mother of Natasha and Scott. Jacqui is a brassy tart with a heart, who brought up both kids single handily, and has had a string of unsuccessful relationships over the years. She has now settled down with successful businessman Noel Patterson, although he has his fingers in a lot of pies she chooses to ignore how he makes his money, she loves him deeply.

Scott Jones

Natasha’s younger brother, who is openly gay. With Natasha leaving for Devon at 16 the pair have never had the chance to properly bond, and he reacts negatively to her showing up again after all these years. Scott works as a waiter at the local restaurant, and tires of a life as a singleton, he keeps his hopes up for Mr right to walk into his life soon.

Noel Patterson

Jacqui’s fiance Noel is a smooth and charismatic charmer, and wealthy businessman. He has a past, but is one to shy away from telling people about it. He has his fingers in a lot of pies, dealing in some illegal ventures, but he tries to shield Jacqui from the truth.

Kyle Patterson

Noel’s eldest child Kyle is a hit with the ladies, and is never seen without a lady on his harm. A chip off the old block, charm comes as second nature to Kyle, and he has ambitions of becoming the next Pete Doherty. Kyle left his mother and sister Melanie when he was 16 to join his father in London, the pair have a strong bond with one another.

Melaine Patterson

Noel’s loud and sassy daughter. Melaine turns up in London with hopes of living the high life and becoming the next big thing. A lot like her mother, Melaine isn’t one to hold back what she thinks, and catches eyes wherever she goes. Her abrasive nature offends some, and her personality clashes instantly with Natasha.

Jennie Hudson

Jennie is an independent businesswoman, who has spent her lift grating for her daughter Brooke. Jennie and Noel have a past, with hints of a past romance, but the pair’s relationship is now strictly plutonic. Jennie’s fallen on good times; she has a suave and successful boyfriend, who has provided her with the money to open up her own hair salon.

Micheal Collins

Micheal is Jennie’s latest love interest, with whom she is madly in love. Micheal is a successful stock broker, who has lived his life gambling on the stock market. He has a lot of money to his name, and several skeletons in his closest, but he hopes to settle down with Jennie and her daughter Brooke in Ocean Village.

Brooke Hudson

Brooke is Jennie’s 17-year-old daughter. Jennie’s whole life has been about giving her daughter the best start in life. Jennie is fiercely proud of her daughter and hopes that she will go to university and have the life she never had. Brooke has other ideas: she’d rather live life to the full, dabbling in drink, drugs and boys. She has her eyes on Kyle Patterson, but her mother has other ideas.

Donna Mullen

Donna is out and proud lesbian, who runs the local pub with lover Samantha. Donna isn’t one to let anyone walk over her, and refuses to be up with any form of homophobia that anyone might dish out at her & Sam. Donna is very controlling of Samantha, and longs for them to settle down and have a child.

Samantha Powell

Sam is the lesbian lover of Donna, and is the eye candy behind the bar at the local. Unlike Donna, Samantha is bisexual and this has always been a threat to Donna, who is jealous of the flirting she does with male customers. Although she loves Donna, Samantha isn’t so confident about flaunting this relationship in everyone’s faces, and isn’t certain whether she wants to commit to Donna and raise a child.

Helena Richardson

The matriach of the Richardson family, Helena chooses to move her family to Ocean Village following the suicide of her husband John. Mounting up thousands of pounds of debt, John saw no other way out, leaving his family to deal with the debts and the grief of his debt. Helena hopes for a fresh start away from all the painful reminders of John, but doesn’t expect what lies ahead…

Georgie Richardson

Georgie is Helena’s eldest child, and now the man of the family. This has forced him to grow up incredibly fast and snap out of his self-indulgent lifestyle. Georgie is very bitter towards his father’s suicide and resents him for leaving the family in such a mess. Georgie immediately catches the eye of Natasha, two damaged souls find solace in one another’s arms and a close bond forms.

Kayleigh Richardson

The youngest of the Richardson children, Kayleigh finds it hard to come to terms with her father’s death. Kayleigh was always daddy’s little princess and his death sends her over the edge, she soon makes friends with Brooke Hudson, and the pair become firm friends. Little does Kayleigh realise that her problems are only beginning, a path of self-destruction awaits.

Gregg Richardson

John’s younger brother, who turns up in Ocean Village following an extended trip abroad. He helps Helena come to terms with his brother’s death, but it clear that he knows more than he is letting on about John’s death. The more time the pair spend together, the more old feelings resurface, and it’s not long before they become more than in-laws.

Passions is set in Ocean Village, an expensive new residential development in South London. Just aside from the River Thames, Ocean Village is home to a number of restaraunts, bars and coffee shops. Stunning apartments overlook the harbour where yachts and boats are placed.
