Joseph and Faye share a long-awaited kiss this week but will the path of love run smoothly for the pair?
The encounter between the colleagues begin when Joseph's brother, Harry, is brought in for an operation. He's been in a coma for eight years following a suicide attempt and Joseph has always blamed himself for Harry's condition.
'The brothers both went to medical school,' explains Luke Roberts who plays Joseph. 'Harry was naturally gifted but drank it all away. And when it came down to taking his exams he couldn't face the pressure and took an overdose. Harry called Joseph, but his brother didn't answer the phone.'
Surgeon Michael operates on Harry, who he suspects has a perforated stomach lining, but for ethical reasons, Joseph isn't allowed to help.
'The helplessness drives him insane,' reveals Luke. 'His OCD gets worse and he manages to get hold of some drugs by deceiving members of staff. Just as he's about to inject himself, however, nurse Faye catches him. He breaks down and confesses to her and, in return, she talks about her secret past in Dubai.
'The pair both feel a connection, but then Harry's condition deteriorates suddenly and Joseph rushes to be by his brother's side.'
Later, when Joseph is sitting by Harry's bed, Faye comes to tuck him in. Joseph stirs and they share a kiss...
