Former EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite is expecting a baby with actor husband Tom Ellis.
The actress, who quit BBC drama Hotel Babylon last year, is three months pregnant with the couple's first child.
A friend said: "They are over the moon, it's exactly what they've been hoping for."
Outhwaite, 27, has spoken of her wish to be a mum since tying the knot with Ellis in 2006.
She said: "I don't want to leave it too late, especially as we would like to have more than one child."
She hinted that she would even consider quitting acting to start a family, saying: "My career and ambitions have been fulfilled, and I would be quite happy not to work again and look after the children. I don't really have that burning ambition any more

EastEnders bosses have announced that Tamzin Outhwaite is returning to the show after nearly 16 years away from her role as Melanie Owen.
The actress will begin filming in the next few weeks and reappear on our screens as Mel in the New Year.
Mel was last seen on the Square in April 2002 and EastEnders chiefs are currently keeping tight-lipped about exactly what brings her back. One thing's for sure, though – her comeback will spark some major drama for Walford's residents.
Speaking about her big return, Tamzin expressed her delight to once again be working with her old boss John Yorke, who's taken charge of EastEnders as creative director.
She explained: "When I got the call from John asking if I would consider coming back to EastEnders, it was something I just couldn't refuse. John created Mel's most memorable storylines so it is an honour that he has asked me to return.
"EastEnders is in my DNA and I always knew deep down that someday I would revisit Mel. She is a strong independent woman with lots more stories to tell. To be stepping back into Mel's shoes nearly 20 years after I first started feels just perfect."
John Yorke added: "Tamzin is one of EastEnders' biggest stars, so it's particularly exciting to welcome her back to Walford for an incredible storyline – one that will awaken a lot of old ghosts, some great memories, and a whole new series of adventures too.
"We're thrilled and flattered to have Tamzin back and we can't wait to reveal just where she's been, and just who Melanie Owen is now."
Mel was an EastEnders regular between 1998 and 2002. During that time, she took centre stage in several memorable storylines, including her doomed Millennium Eve wedding day with Ian Beale and her turbulent relationship with Steve Owen. She was also involved in the iconic 'Who Shot Phil?' plot.
When Mel left in 2002, her life had started to fall apart following Steve's death as she found herself implicated in his drugs scandal.
Resorting to desperate measures at the time, Mel fled the country – losing Phil her £30,000 bail money in the process.
An EastEnders statement teased: "Classy, sassy and fierce, Mel Owen's return to Walford is bound to turn a few heads, as well as tear open old wounds. But with so much history in Albert Square, just why is Mel coming back?"
Since leaving EastEnders, Tamzin has kept busy with a number of TV, film and theatre roles, including Out of Control, Red Cap, New Tricks and Sweet Charity.

EastEnders fans are gearing up for a big blast from the past as Tamzin Outhwaite is returning to her old stomping ground after 15 years away. But for those who are newer viewers, we have summarised Mel Healy/Owen’s story thus far. She certainly had a dramatic time in Walford, with two big weddings, an arson attack, a very memorable Christmas one night stand and a hostage horror. Best mate to Lisa Fowler and with turbulent relationships with major characters such as Phil Mitchell, Ian Beale and the late Steve Owen, there’s a lot to catch up on. Mel arrived in Walford after travelling the Greek Islands, where her business had gone bust and she had escaped an abusive relationship. She was shocked to find that her supposedly dead brother, vicar Alex, lived nearby. She reunited with him and her dad Jeff.
Mel started working for Ian and the pair quickly developed a relationship. Mel initially struggled to bond with Ian’s kids but eventually made headway. They soon became engaged but Mel got cold feet as the day got closer and decided to call it off but Ian discovered her intentions and lied that Lucy was desperately ill with cancer. The Millennium wedding dawned but Mel discovered a letter giving Lucy the all clear and confronted Ian, walking out on him as the bell tolled in the year 2000. Mel had short lived flings with Billy Mitchell and Dan Sullivan but was most drawn into the orbit of Steve Owen, whom she fell for.
Mel had slept with Lisa Fowler’s partner Phil Mitchell on Christmas Day in a drunken mistake, something which Steve later discovered. Steve forgave Mel but when Phil was shot on their wedding day, Steve became number one suspect, with even Mel doubtinng him. With Phil having discovered that it was Lisa who shot him, he instructed Steve to help him frame Dan for the crime. Dan was jailed but upon being released, he kidnapped Mel in revenge and demanded a ransom from a panicked Steve. While Dan’s hostage, Mel discovered Steve’s shadier side from him. When Phil saved Mel, she walked out on Steve. In revenge against her husband, she torched his club E20 but the pair would later reunite. They planned to emigrate with Lisa, Mark and Louise but their plans fell apart when Mark pulled out as Phil determined to stop Lisa taking Louise. A desperate Steve absconded with Louise but a car chase with Phil in pursuit led to his death and Mel was crushed. After Steve died, truths about him came to light including his affair with Sam Mitchell and the fact he had sold the house and business without telling Mel. Worse was to come when Mel realised that paperwork she had absent-mindedly signed now linked her to Steve’s drug smuggling operations and she was arrested. When Phil discovered that Mel was pregnant, he bailed her out of prison but when she then learned that Lisa had shot Phil, not Steve, she raised a glass to her late husband and departed Walford with Phil’s cash. Lisa and Louise would later join Mel in Portugal.

Doubt Mel would go back there. She only married him the first time because she thought Lucy had cancer.
Jack Branning must be the most likely. Attractive and since Mel left pregnant, they'll have single parenthood in common unless the writers have forgotten that little detail.

Harry Reid (Ben) was pictured on location filming scenes with Tamzin Outhwaite, who is reprising her role as Mel Owen but what part she will play in Ben’s story remains to be seen

Phil I think. I seem to recall that Sharon handed over her share to Phil so she could have The Albert.
I read, that he sold it weyland and max gave it back to jack. So Sharon and jack plan to reopen it.

I liked Mel when she was first on the show but not liking her or her son this time around
I want her son gone. He’s so annoying.
