My Fake Baby explores the lives of women who spend hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of pounds on life-like baby dolls. Known as "reborns" some of the dolls have beating hearts, others have tiny veins and even milk spots. Loved like real babies, they're taken for walks, cuddled and even have their nappies changed.
Tonight at 10pm on Channel 4. Has anyone seen the adverts for this? It looks really wierd..but also quite interesting..I think I might watch it..
This sounds very werid.
I might have to watch it
im recording it - saw the advert last night - very weird advert - almost died when i saw her putting the baby in the oven!!! until i realised they were dolls ofcourse!!!
OKay I watched it and I thought it was very odd, the only person I could understand was the gran who has been close close to her granson it was as if he was her own and then for him to be taken away, you could see was very upsetting and thats why she got this doll to replace him and have some kind of comfort, shes the only one I could understand.
The other woman, well she had loads and you could kina understand why they wanted to wait to have kids but its not like she couldnt have kinds of her own
This program is so strange. I can't imagine having a doll and taking it out for a walk in a pram and pretending it was a real baby. Most of them look ugly, I couldn't understand how all the women could say that they were gorgeous.
I also though that the woman who made them in the Uk, he ones looked real but the woman who got her form america, they didnt look as real, you could tell they were dolls
That grandmother seriously needs her head looking at the whole way through she was talking as if Harry was dead when infact he had moved to NZ.
Did anyone catch the comment she made when she first got her harry doll "Atleast noone can take this one away from me!!!" Get a grip he was never yours to keep!!!! At some points i actually thought she wished he daughter had died
I know what you mean. But I do feel really sorry for her.
I thought Harry had died. Yeah, ok she looked after him a bit when his mother was in hospital but she went over the top by trying to stop them going to NZ.
I heard that comment, it was pretty selfish. He isn't her son. And the baby is a doll, it won't grow up or do anything like Harry would do. Even the boy himself said that.
It just got better when she wrapped him up and put him in the car seat and strapped him in. Then my mum said, "its the wrong size seat for a newborn anyway."
i just wonder what her daughter thinks of it all!!
He husband was spot in with his comment though
Im guessing her daughter doesnt like it either since we never heard her comments

That women who had 3..or 4 dolls and was going to America...
I can't believe she spent hundreds of pounds on those leapord print stuff  Also, she was saying she really wanted kids and then she went on to list all the stuff she wanted in a kid: clean, quiet, well-behaved..etc:lol:
I can understand why the gran wanted a doll, but the way she was talking at the beginning I thought Harry was dead too! I actually thought the mother had died aswell the way she was going on...I felt sorry for her but...Instead of spending the money on the doll she could save towards a trip to NZ...?

not meaning to cause offence, but i think they were all really stupid, how those dolls (and thats what they are, no matter how many times they corrected people saying they were babies) can even begin to replace a baby is something i will never understand. the gran was seriously the worst, how could she even think of replacing her grandson with a doll? ok i understand she was upset that hes moved to nz and i sympathise with her for that, but to think you could replace him, how can you ever even think about trying to replace your grandson, especially with a doll?! i know its meant to be a way for people who cant have kids to have a baby, but imo its seriously insulting to say that if you cant have a kid its ok cos you can get a doll that you can dress up instead!
I completely agree with you. At the end of the day they are dolls not babies. Babies grow up, dolls don't.
Little girls dress dolls up and take them out in prams. Any adult who does that needs their head examining (in my opinion)
has anyone actually had a look at the forum the granny met that other women on??? (i wont mention the name as its promoting anyother forum
I went on for a wee look today and omg its horrible they all have pictures of their DOLLS as their sigs and talk about dressing their babies and taking them out for walks. Alot of people have actually regiester today to congratulate them and now joining in......
Can you pm me the address? I can't remember it and I can't find it on google.
This is from a forum about "babies." Hope it's ok to post this, if not delete it :)
I have a car seat in my car.. for my DOLLS, LOL next to my puppy seat.. for my silkie terrier.. so people might think I am a bit crazy but like you said is a doll worth at least $1500.00 she is solid silicone and I will not just put her anywhere that she might get damage.. I also have a front sling carrier that I use to carry the dolls in, I do need my hands free for shoping..LOL
She needs her head checking.
