Terry Wogan is reportedly on the verge of signing a deal to front a new quiz show for ITV.

The channel is said to be considering three possible programmes to lure the veteran broadcaster away from the BBC.

An insider told The Sun: “ITV are desperate to get Terry on board and he is keen."

The new show would see Wogan go up against Paul O'Grady in his popular 5pm slot on Channel 4.

The source added: "He’s not been doing as much TV since his UKTV chat show was dumped. ITV reckon he has just the right appeal to drag viewers away from Channel 4.

“The success of his Radio 2 show proves people still have a huge affection for him. ITV just need to decide on the best show for him - then it will be all systems go.”

The deal is not thought to be exclusive, with Wogan still expected to present Children In Need, The Eurovision Song Contest and Points Of View for the BBC, as well as his Radio 2 show.

Another quiz show? What will make this any different?

I agree. We have far too many quiz and chat shows on the box. I doubt Terry Wogan can make a quiz show work well enough.

Oh deary me. ITV are still trying that tactic to steal ratings from Paul O Grady? They still come across as being very bitter about Paul O Grady moving to Channel 4.

All I can say is thankgoodness it's not another chat show they are trying. And if it was a chat show, I bet it would have been called "The Terry Wogan Show" The originality at ITV is simply amazing.

Anywho, I don't know if this quiz show would work. I agree with Chris that Terry Wogan does irritate me greatly. ITV should hold onto Goldenballs and The Great Pretender in my opinion, as they are both good game shows, and both shows could both take turns to run for 6 months of the year.
