View Full Version : Soap Of The Year?
Thoughts on this everyone.
For me it is Eastenders, it has come on leaps and bounds and now is unmissable television once more.
Hollyoaks is a close second, it has been amazing this year!

Does this include the Australian ones? If so Home and Away. Totally the best soap. Incredibly far-fetched, but it's very entertaining! Always something happening :D.
Followed by Eastenders I guess.
Its home and away for me, I have really got into and love it :)
The eastenders :D
Home and Away. Their stories are so much faster then any of the UK ones- As soon as a major story ends, the next begins. And they don't tend to drag on for months, which i prefer.

Ah what :p I didn't know Holby City was going to be counted :p. I change my mind. Holby is the best :p I still clicked Home and Away mind :s. But Home and Away has moved to second place :p.
Each to thier own but I really can't stand Home & Away anymore.
There's always some long lost mother or lovechild showing up, always some pyscho with scores to settle, always some natural disaster going on.
Whenever I do happen to catch an episode (most Friday's at my Aunt's house :crying: ) there's always a new set of people living with Sally!
And don't get me started on Coleen!
:thumbsdow

I know thats what I like about it :p
Although I dont mind when our soaps drag out stuff but only if the ending its huge and dramatic :p
for me it is definitely EE for the reasons bry has said.... it has improved so much then H&W is a very close second.. it has been an amazing year with Sally getting stabbed and the whole Johnny and rocco thing

I voted Hollyoaks. It's such an under rated soap but simply fantastic. All the storylines they've done this year have been fab (John Paul/Craig, Hannah's eating disorder, Clare's exit) and they've done some cracking episodes including the John Paul/Craig reveal, Melissa's death and Claire being pushed over the balcony to name a few. The soap has kept me hooked all year, with great storylines and great characters (The McQueens being my favourites).
Eastenders would probably come second...but doesn't come close to Hollyoaks' quality this year, in my opinion.

I say Holby..but then it's my favourite programme so I'm biased :p But it has had some pretty good storyline like Connie's baby, and the Dan/Maddy/Lou mess....I also think Hollyoaks has been great, Eastenders also but it had a bit of a lull in the year where nothing much interesting happened :p
I went for The Bill. Lots of good storylines this year and the standard has been consistently high. Home and Away comes a very close second. I do get slightly bored with some characters and storylines like the Jazz and Drew one but overall its great.

I went for Doctors, it's been far better than any of the other soaps put together
Home and Away because the stories move on pretty quickly abnd there have been some decent storlines this year that had me hooked. Especially all the stuff with the Beth.
Hollyoaks and Eastenders a close second and third/

Hollyoaks has been the best, although I don't think its been as good as 2005/06. And its still not the same without Mandy.
EastEnders has shown much improvement but I still wouldn't call it consistently brilliant.
Corrie's year started off well with all the Tracy stuff etc but started going downhill about half way through the year and is fairly average at the moment. Bring back Karen Macdonald I say!
Emmerdale has been absolutely dire, no exaggeration. I take no notice of it anymore.
Emmerdale has never been spectacular. I used to watch it years ago around the time Sarah died in the barn fire. It's just a pants excuse for a soap.

Ditto
For me EE after that whole stalker storyline/Steven returns has come out to be unmissable soap ever since
And Hollyoaks is excellent as well

Coronation Street for me! I loved the Carla Liam Maria Love Triangle!

I totally agree, its such a fun soap and covers some serious issues, the eating disorder story line being amazing!
I like how they experiment with different openings to the episodes eg-: doors opening leading to other characters stepping out, it keeps it fresh.
