View Full Version : Motobike Accident
Was involved in a motorbike accident today where a car motorist pulled out infront of my bike. They didn't stop - instead accelerated away fast.
Fortunately other motorists chased and managed to get the car reg number (caught on CCTV as well). The police followed up and arrested the motorist. Apparently he was driving unsupervised with a provisional license but does have insurance. As he was driving unsupervised, will his insurance cover my losses or will I have to go another route to recover my losses?
Totally ****** off - last thing I wanted was to be lying injured at home when the wife is due

Oh my gosh!. Glad you're alright though - so to speak.
Was there an actual collision? or just nearly?
Hopefull his insurance will cover you! But I doubt it unfortunately!!
Yes, it was an actual collision. Plonker pulled right out infront of me.
The police said his insurance should cover me, but they weren't 100%. Will be getting legal advice this coming week.

My gosh.
Then very glad to see you here alive. That's the main thing I guess.
It will be a tough one what with him being provisional and unsupervised. I really hope it will be easy for you though!
Oh my god, hope your okay
Nothing that won't go away I hope. Everything is slowly stiffening up though. The neck I can hardly move, and the right leg (where the bike ended up) is sore.

That's a point. What injuries did you get??
Surprised to see you out tbh! The way you say you can hardley move you neck etc..
there's some right buggers on the roads isn't there!? it's idiots like him that give young drivers a bad name, and why it's so expensive for young male drivers to get insurance!
I'm glad your okay Rimmer! I'm sure it'll all work out in the end, and you can sue the sorry **** off that little runt! But even so that doesnt make up for the injuries you've sustained and the fact that your xmas day is ruined!
Hope you heal up soon, and get a speedy payout!
So far I've got whiplash, right ankle hurting when I walk on it, above right calf hurting. Left kneecap feels a bit dodgy, and right wrist seems sore.

Sounds bad!!!
Don't do too much tomorrow (well today). Don't want to make it worse !

Yup - Couldn't believe he'd driven off. Was very lucky that other motorists chased him. I reckon he only had provisional insurance as police can now do spot checks to see if someone is insured for a vehicle.
Not bothered about the payout - would rather have my body and bike to normal.

Holy crap. Glad to hear that you weren't too badly injured. As for this idiot not having any proper insurance I don't know. What a terrible time for it too happen
Sorry to hear about that, Rimmer. They should never let him drive after that, ever! Hope you have a good christmas in spite of what's happened and manage to get your bike repaired soon.

I sincerely hope you are okay, and make a swift and speedy recovery!!! :)
What a git, glad he has some insurance - hope you take him for everything you can!
Its not a nice thing to happen (understatement, I know), but at least you are here to tell the tale and the swine was caught and has insurance!!!
Hope your feeling better soon, hows the bike is that in bad condition to?
Let us know about the insurance situation as i am really unsure.
Oh gawd! All you needed! Main thing is that you are ok (in a sense).
The only thing I'm thinking with the insurance though - because he was driving unsupervised, would his insurance be valid? As technically wouldn't he be invalidating his own insurance, by not being supervised?
:hmm:
I hope it isn't the case though - good luck
Sorry to hear about this - it's young drivers like this that give the rest of us a bad reputation.

How are you feeling now? Do you have to go for any further check-ups or anything? Hope you get better soon anyhow!

Happened down south.
Neck, shoulder, back, wrist and ankle are still hurting. I'm hoping with sufficient rest they will be back to normal, but doc reckons i'll be needing some physio :(
Aww Hope you get better soon, But maybe Physio could be the best thing and if it helps?
Physio is great if you can stick at it and remember to do the exercises. It can take a long time to get back to normal, physio tends to speed it up slightly.
