570: 'The Deadly Game'
PCs Will Fletcher and Ben Gayle chase a stolen car to a dead end where the driver escapes but teenager Lily Davis is caught.
Back at the station DCs Mickey Webb and Terry Perkins are introduced to new recruit, DC Stevie Moss. They are briefed on a hit and run which has left Robbie Nash unconscious. The team soon discover that the car involved was the same one Lily and her accomplice stole.
The car is finally traced to Canley Town footballer, Jem Archer. Mickey and Terry question Jem, his fiancée Michelle Rosen and Ernie Rosen, Jem’s manager and Michelle’s father. Stevie interviews Robbie in hospital, but he says he can’t remember anything.
After further investigation, the officers discover that Jem, Nash and Michelle were seen arguing together in a bar. The case takes a surprising turn when the team learn that Jem and Robbie are secretly a couple and Michelle knows all about it.
Jem admits that when he tried to end his relationship with his fiancée to be with Robbie, celebrity-obsessed Michelle was furious and left the club. When Ernie is questioned again, he breaks down and admits that faced with professional disaster and personal humiliation he ran Robbie over. However, when PC Sally Armstrong uncovers new evidence, it becomes clear that Ernie was lying and the culprit is closer to home.
571: 'Shadow Stalker'
PC Sally Armstrong and Sergeant Stone visit Mandy Glover who has been assaulted in a nearby park. She tells the officers she was attacked on her way home from the bar she works at, but the suspect fled when he was disturbed by some joggers. Mandy says that she has been receiving nuisance phone calls for weeks and feels like she’s been watched. Stone later discovers that Mandy had recently been seeing counsellor Michael Cantor.
Back at the station, a sex offenders list is put together and Trainee DC Kezia Walker is shocked to see Kevin Mallory’s name, a man she arrested for the rape of two students when she was a PC. Comparing the cases, Kezia is convinced he is the attacker, but after questioning him she is frustrated that they have no evidence.
Later, Sally realises that Mandy has left her phone at the station and heads to her flat to return it. When she hears Mandy screaming for help, she breaks down the door and frees a terrified Mandy who has a plastic bag over her head and her hands tied. The officers soon decide that the only way to catch the attacker is for Sally to go undercover working in the bar with Mandy while Stone keeps a watchful eye.
After their shift, a scared Mandy walks back through the park and the attacker strikes again. Officers are stunned when they chase a shadowy figure through the trees and discover it’s her counsellor, Michael. When questioned, Michael admits that he was in the park but didn’t attack Mandy. After further investigation, they realise who the real attacker is, but it may be too late for Kezia, who finds herself alone with him.
