568: 'Assault on Sun Hill: Part I'

DC Terry Perkins meets old informant, Barry Jenkinson who says hardened criminal and murderer Jimmy Duncan has arranged a cash-in-transit robbery for later that day. Terry agrees to check it out and heads back to Sun Hill, where DI Samantha Nixon introduces him to new recruit, DS Max Carter.
Later, Barry tells Terry that he’s worried after discovering his son Reece is the planned getaway driver for the robbery. While Max and DC Mickey Webb interview Reece, Terry persuades Barry to drive in his son’s place to help them catch Jimmy.
The officers later wait for Barry’s signal and Terry is stunned when he learns that the robbery has taken place and CO19 have arrested Jimmy and his cronie, Doug Spence (Adam Christopher). He and Max rush to Barry’s garage, where they find him in a pool of blood. With his last breath, Barry confesses that Jimmy shot him.
Later, Sergeant Stone and PC Will Fletcher pick up a drunk and emotional Terry from a pub and put him in a cell to sleep it off.
PCs Sally Armstrong and Ben Gayle arrest two drunk girls, Paula Wilson and Tiff Bennett, who have no money to pay for their cab fare from the airport. Sergeant Nikki Wright puts them in a cell to sober up.
Later, the girls' boyfriends Michael and Damo turn up at the station to pay for the cab in order to get the girls out, but when Sally and Ben tell them that they will remain in custody for a while longer, the boys become very nervous and are quick to leave Sun Hill. The station is soon brought to a terrifying halt when two masked men enter and demand that certain prisoners be let out.

Sun Hill is brought to a terrifying halt when PCs Sally Armstrong and Tony Stamp are held at gun point by Michael and Damo who are demanding their girlfriends, Tiff Bennett and Paula Wilson are released.
PC Ben Gayle is pushed against a wall as Sergeant Nikki Wright is forced to open the cell doors. Paula is horrified, while an ill-looking Tiff can barely react. When Vinnie joins them from the getaway car, he panics and accidentally shoots an officer on the outside who is soon attended to by Sergeant Stone and PC Will Fletcher. Inside, the gunmen move everyone, including murderer, Jimmy Duncan into a secure room and as Tiff writhes in pain, Paula reveals they swallowed bags of drugs to get through customs.
Outside the station, Superintendent John Heaton and Inspector Gina Gold organise the troops outside and Michael begins to negotiate with them. Nikki finally persuades him to release Tiff for medical attention and he carries her to the front of the station with the help of Ben and Damo, while clueless Vinnie is left in charge. Desperate to escape prison, Jimmy coaxes the gun from Vinnie, shoots him, and grabs a terrified Nikki as a hostage.
Back in the cells, DC Terry Perkins wakes up and is staggered to see the gunmen and their hostages and when seen by Jimmy, he pretends to be a fellow prisoner. Jimmy works on his getaway plan with the help of Terry and takes the other gun from Michael. He orders everyone to lie down while he sets fire to some blankets as a decoy for his escape.
Untrusting, Jimmy hits Terry over the head with the gun, knocking him to the floor. With an armed murderer on the loose, the station billowing in smoke and their only hope unconscious, will anyone make it out of Sun Hill alive?
