Somewhere on the internet I came across apple cider vinegar and its benefits which appear to be vast. Anyway, I could feel coming down with a head cold and started to drink a couple of mugs of apple cider vinegar a day ( I did not bother adding honey as some people do), and took one tablet of zinc and vitamin C a day for just three days and my cold never really developed and although I am normally always suffering with head colds and sinus infections, so far I feel great. I take the stuff when I feel a little unwell for a couple of days and my immune system seems to be coping very well. Thought I share this with you in case you want to give it a try.

That wouldnt be neat vinegar, would it?! It would be watered down significantly with water?

No, sorry, you don't drink that much vinegar neat. It is apple flavoured and probably not as strong as neat vinegar but don't quote me on that. You only use a couple of teaspoon full in a mug, so it is quite diluted, tastes not too bad but probably not everybody's cup of tea (! ). That is why some sweeten it with honey but I don't like sugary things so prefer it without. This drink is also supposed to lower high bad cholesterol, I am due a test early next year and will see whether it is true.

Sorry, yes, of course it is diluted, should have made this clear.:o Two teaspoons of vinegar in a mug with hot water, not everybody's cup of tea (! ) but some sweeten it with honey, I personally don't. I read that adding Bicarbonate of Soda removes the acid but I tried that and while it is less acidy, it tasted disgusting. I got used to the taste now and don't mind one or two cups a day when I feel I need it.

Sorry, my computer played up, apparently my laptop needs a new power supply (it doesn't) so now there are two replies from me as the first response was not visible until I posted the second one. Sorry :o

One of the best remedies I've found is echinecea. I take it as soon as a cold starts and generally within 2 days, the cold has gone..

I'll second that. It's very good at stopping a cold from coming.

I found that it also speeds up the recovery time if you have got the dreaded lergy already. :cheer:
