Preeti to leave EE

EastEnders actress Babita Pohoomull, who plays beautician Preeti Choraria in the soap, is leaving the show early next year, it has been announced.

Pohoomull joined the programme just over a year ago, since which her character has briefly had relationships with Sean and Bradley.

Show producers decided to let the character go after she failed to make an impression on the audience.

A BBC spokesperson said: "Preeti will leave Albert Square in early 2008. We wish Babitha all the best in her career."

Preeti will leave Walford after Mickey rejects her and she decides that there is nothing left for her in Albert Square.

I quite like her but think she was given c**p storylines, she comes across as such a caring, loving person, I reckon they could have done more with her character. I shall miss her. :(

She's not my favourite character, but they havn't given her any major storyline to make 'an impression'! :rolleyes:

I'm not bothered. She has no real links to the square and most characters need that to survive. There is no stand alone character in the square right now that has had decent storylines.

What a waste. It really annoys me when EE bring in a new character, don't do anything with them, then say "we are axing them as viewers haven't warmed to the character" :rolleyes: How are we meant to warm to them when we haven't seen them act out a proper storyline? All Preeti has really done is chase after Mickey Miller, her character hasn't been explored at all and I blame that on the writers/producers. They didn't put the effort in to give her a storyline and explore her character.

Preeti's character never really got off the ground, so she can leave with my blessing too :p
I am in agreement with some one elses post that EE has this habit of bringing in new people and not giving the character a chance to GROW......sighhhhhhhhhh

I don't like Chelsea much and I am glad that she is leaving too. She has just been so spiteful, getting Carly hurt by sending her on that date with Warren (Will Mellor) knowing full well what a horrible person he is and trying to set up Sean for the attack on Patrick. Once whe was found out she just whinged and felt sorry for herself. :angry:

I think they could have developed her role far better than they did. As it stands, no loss really.

Yay! Happy, happy, happy. Now just got to get rid of the other half of the overly whingey equation! (Chelsea.) If anyone asked half a year ago where she'd gone, I would have said she'd left! We haven't even seen her in ages.
