Barbara Dickson is to make a guest appearance in BBC One's daytime soap Doctors.

The multi-award winning singer filmed her scenes over a three-day period earlier this week, for an episode called 'Mama Sings The Blues', which will air on Tuesday 11th March.

Dickson plays former rock star Rose McQueen, who is experiencing problems as she tries to fix a troubled relationship with her daughter Allegra, an up and coming pop singer. Nicky Henson will play Rose's wounded ex-husband Carl in the episode.

"It is such a delight to have Barbara on the show; she brings such warmth, charm and ease to her role," producer Ella Kelly explained. "It has also been a privilege to hear Barbara singing both in the studio and on set with her gentle, evocative tones. We were all quite tearful!

"We are very much a family here on Doctors and Barbara has fitted in really well. She was also thrilled to hear that one of her co-stars is Nicky Henson as they are old friends. The audience are in for a real treat with this episode."
