Christmas
Charlie is on his way to work with Louis and Tess, as the medical Drama continues. He stops to buy a newspaper and chats to a woman in the shop. When she leaves the shop and crosses the road, she is hit by a car and dragged underneath it. The car doesn't stop and Tess and Charlie rush outside to help.
Meanwhile, a Santa comes into the ED after being beaten up by kids in the shopping centre. As he describes the gang who attacked him, it sounds like Louis might be involved.
Later, Sara arrives, having fainted on a bus. Toby discovers Sara was pregnant, but lost the baby. She is reluctant to talk about it and denies everything. Charlie, meanwhile, gets a mysterious call, which leads him, Dixie and Jeff to a medical centre – where they find an abandoned baby wrapped in blankets.
On the way back to the ED, Charlie thinks he sees Louis. He loses sight of him but spots the car involved in the morning's hit and run, and calls the police. There's an altercation and the driver, Jason, punches Charlie and runs off. The police give chase, but the driver injures himself and has to be taken to the ED.
Back at Holby, Charlie and Jason have another row and Charlie punches him. Harry later has no choice but to ask Charlie to resign.
New Year

The New Year heralds a gruelling shift for the staff at Holby City ED, as this double episode sees the team pushed to the very limit when they deal with the aftermath of a horrific incident in a nightclub.
Dean, a loner, is standing at a bus stop when a group of girls from his school drive by and offer him a lift. Dean is infatuated with one of the girls, Orla, and accepts, but, when there is an incident in the car, Orla hurts her neck. Dean is told to get out of the car and Orla is taken to the ED.
A mistake in the assessment of Orla's condition, however, puts her in jeopardy and Nadia decides to resign – even though it wasn't her mistake.
Back at home, Dean gets angry with his mum, Kate, who quizzes him about a photo he has of Orla. He later goes to the Paradice nightclub, where Abs and Kelsey are also planning to spend New Year's Eve.
Dr Zoe Hanna, meanwhile, runs out of petrol and is lost. She goes to the nearest house to ask for directions but the occupant asks for her help urgently. It's Dean's house and his mother, Kate, has been shot. Dr Hanna's arrival, with Kate, at Holby ED, has a big impact on the team. Not due to arrive until the next day, she's dynamic and driven, and everyone is wowed by her professionalism. Her dedication to help Kate, before she has even started, impresses the department.
Later, on the stroke of midnight in the middle of Paradice nightclub, tragedy strikes.

Dean's actions in the crowded nightclub put the lives of many in jeopardy, in tonight's second helping of the medical Drama. Abs and Kelsey, however, are lucky to escape unharmed.
Unaware of the unfolding tragedy at the Paradice nightclub, it's business as usual over at Holby ED. A bagpiper, who is waiting in reception to be seen, plays Auld Lang Syne and leads the department in song.
The team later find out about the major incident at the nightclub and Tess has to take control of the ED on her own, for the first time, as the team battle hard to save those injured.
Throughout, Adam and Alice are stuck together in a lift which has broken down, along with a woman, Martha, who is in labour. Adam is claustrophobic, so it falls to Alice to help deliver the baby.
