I'm going to Paris soon, and my dad was talking to his mate at work, and he reckons it would be better to get travellers cheques. So I was thinking of getting half euros and have TC. My question is - if you've been to Paris - whether most places accept travellers cheques??
Some places will accept them like cash, particularly round DisneyLand areas. I dont think many other shops would accept them like that though.
Have you got a cash card or a debit card? Most banks will give you protection to use it abroad. Its probably as safe to use that, as it would be to use travellers cheques. You can just pop to an ATM when you need cash. And if something happens, your bank's protection will cover you. Ring them up and ask them about it :)

Oh right thanks.
Yeah I have a debit card. I might pop in and ask them about that then.
Their websites generally will tell you. They also quite like you telling them that you will be using it abroad, so they know it hasn't been cloned :)

my brother and his wife were here from the states they found it easier just using the ATM and using thier bank card, debit card whatever....Travelers checks are Ok at Disneyland but if they get stolen you really are gonna have one heck of a time,, if ur going to take half and half,, thats cool then make sure you have photostated copies of the numbers on the travelers checks to be able to track them down if they are stolen..
Euros are easy to use really...
Credit or debit cards are probably best although you might have to pay a fee to withdraw cash at an ATM.
Cards are also useful because the exchange rate fluctuates every day so you might end up getting more cash for your money than if you bought currency in advance. Of course, he opposite can happen.
If you do take cards make sure you make a note of the card number and account number and your bank's phone number for stolen cards just in case.

The only thing with taking my debit card is.. I have a big problem with losing my wallet. I've lost 3 different ones while being on holiday (at different times). So I'm a bit weary of myself with my card (amongst other items) haha.

I would use a debit card to be honest, and take some cash to keep you going. If you use the ATM, you get the euros at the rate of that day, which I have found saves you money, when its good against the £
