Superintendent Heaton (Daniel Flynn) and MP Paul Sagger (Tom Chadbon) are stunned after gunshots are fired at them whilst driving out of the hospital car park. DC Jo Masters (Sally Rogers) and CSE Lorna Hart (Siobhan Redmond) are sent to examine the crime scene while a briefing is held back at the station.
The car Heaton saw speeding away from the hospital is traced to Alfie Ruiz (Daniel Ainsleigh) who is arrested by PC Tony Stamp (Graham Cole). Back at the station, Ruiz is questioned and admits that he is a private investigator, hired by Saggers soon to be ex-wife. He confesses he was watching Sagger at the time of the shooting but swears he wasn’t involved. Ruiz also says that he knows the MP has some kind of deal with Abdul Muntqim, the man Mura (Vic Tablian) mentioned before dying.
The officers are stunned when they eventually track Muntqim down as he breathes his final breath. After discovering Derek Jacobs’ (Colin McFarlane) army badge next to him, he becomes the central suspect for killing Muntqim and the shootings.
Sagger’s partner, Sandra Finch (Carolyn Backhouse), is also questioned and she explains that Jacobs told her the coffin used to bring her son Nathan back from Iraq, was used by Sagger to smuggle back looted goods.
Back at Sun Hill, Sagger is charged for smuggling and as he is led out to the transport vehicle, all hell breaks loose when Jacobs suddenly appears with a gun. Grabbing Sagger, he shows that he is wearing a vest made of explosives and he is ready to push the detonator…
