Yes or No? In my opinion it has!

There's such a fantastic cast for them to work with now and so much potential with the characters they currently have. The only dead wood now are the Millers. The new producer has done an amazing job!

Recent additions uch as Ronnie, Roxy, Jack, Jase Shirley and Stephen have added a breath of fresh air to the show. Now every episode is gripping again!

Just putting together all the future storylines and potential storylines brewing, so as we can see how positive the show's future is looking.

Jase's past - which comes out next week, looks like some of the most dramatic scenes this year

Billy & Honey's baby - looks like some good drama ahead there, and more tension between Billy & Honey

The Stax affair fallout - xmas day, this will be dynamyte!

Sean and Tanya - a sizzling affair waiting to happen, can't wait to see this one kick off! Also Sean and Jean's relationship is just getting off the ground and making for interesting viewing!

Ronnie & Jack - Two great characters and actors, look forward to seeing how this develops and the new Jack vs The Mitchells storyline. Also Ronnie has a secret that's going to shatter the Mitchells - intresting!

The Beales - They're been given a whole new lease of life, and now there's all the potential conflict between Ian Jane and Stephen, maybe a future affair also?

The Wicks - Rumoured death of Kevin? Great chance for Diane Parish to shine!

Frank's Funeral - Eastenders gold with the Butcher clan reuniiting, will be emotional and dramatic!

I agree, there are one or two boring episodes but on a whole i think they are doing a great job.

Looking foward to Frank's funeral that should be really good, im sure they will do a fantastic job with it as they are with the rest of the stories

I don't think it's fully recovered yet, but I do think it has improved dramatically!

Some of the storylines you mentioned I am really looking forward to.

For me though, I know I say it all the time, (I'm a moaner :p), but I don't like The Mitchells - apart from Billy and Honey. They just bore me now, everything has been done "I'm a Mitchell so I can do it", "I'm a Mitchell - I'm like Superman"... yeah okay WHATEVER! Get rid of Peggy, Phil, Ben, and the new ones, which is a shame cause I think Samantha Janus is a good actress. Get rid of Minty and Hazel, oh and Gary. Then for me (personally), it would get better!

I agree the turning point for EE was earlier this year with the May and Stella storylines. The Rob/Dawn/May one for me is by far the best storyline this year, although I'm already looking forward to Christmas episodes immensely.

The new additons have been mostly good although I think the Mitchell sisters need a break - far too much airtime for me and I am starting to find them irritating.

The Millers can definately go though - including Dawn.

I agree about the Mitchell sisters. Take tonight for instance. We have been waiting a whole year for some info on the Jean/Sean relationship and there were far too many R/R scenes with Roxy and her car etc. :thumbsdow

This year has been a massive improvement on the dreadful 2006 but the show is still not like it used to be and never will be IMO, although lets be honest no soap is nowadays. Most have just turned into watered down versions of what they used to be, pretending they're as good as they always were but deep down we know their not. If we sat down and watched repeats of a load of old soap eps from years ago we'd soon see the difference. EastEnders is still an enjoyable show and I quite like it at the moment but it will never give us groundbreaking storylines like it used to, no soap will. They've all been there, done that, and we've seen it all before. The wow factor has gone with them.

Since I have only been watching EE for 5 yrs,,..I have found some story lines improved, and some story lines that make me cringe.

I would say give it time and it will improve.

I think it has got a lot better this year but I also appreciate the saying: "You can't please all of the people all the time." There would not be much of a point of having this forum if we could not have a moan about characters/storylines etc. would there?

there has been good and bad again this year but the majority has been good. Compared to 2006 that was not hard. I think using the BEales was a great move and also using Jane as more than Ians wife in the Cafe. Laurie Brett is a really good actress. The Stella storyline was really well worked as well. And it had me gripped even though tended to run for a long time. I also think the new characters have been really good as they have been introlduced slowly rather than having a whole new family appear overnight.

I dont think it has. They've had some good stories, but they drag them out far too much, which ruins them IMO. If the pace was faster, then it would have been a great year for EE. But as it is, i haven't enjoyed it.

I agree abi,its been like last year,a few good storylines but i think it will improve in time, also its like here we go again a lot of the scripts seem like re writes from past episodes,no duobt they'll give us a good christmas episode like usual i just hope that 2008 will be a good year for them and they turn the corner

The Beales - They're been given a whole new lease of life, and now there's all the potential conflict between Ian Jane and Stephen, maybe a future affair also?

I totally agree on what you said - also the other characters you listed but this stands out to me :)

I loving the Beales (never thought i would ever say that lol) but then again i have always liked Jane and i have also taken to Steven, and like you i can see a future affair happening or something - its how Steven is with Jane and how he had a crush on her :)
And also i think Steven kinda understands/gets Jane where Ian doesnt

And yes for me EE has recovered because i cant bear to miss an episode these days :)

Also i like Jase, i love the fact that EE havent given him a typical soap past but an interesting one - its intriguing IMO

I think they need to so something with Jack, he's basically just like Phil Hunter in The Bill lol

I don't think that EE will ever gain a 20 million viewers audience like they did in the early days but that's because the public are able to choose when they want to watch an episode they don't have to sit down at 7.30pm on a Tuesday or Thursday night.

In EE defence I will say that the last year the storylines have improved a lot with nutty Stella and the introduction of Roxie and Ronnie. Although I haven't seen them on screen for what I have read on here it has all been positive comments about them.

However the writers of EE are there own worst enemy they introduce new characters who are working their butts off to gain back the viewers then they other characters who are just a waste of space (The Millers and Peggy and Phil ring any bells) also they write some stupid storylines to bring back old faces. Although I agree that Mike Reid (Frank) deserves a proper send off bringing back Bianca, Ricky and co is bad news they should be there just for the week and that's it.

I think it's been great since the Stella storyline. The show has found its feet again and has become great television again.

The new Mitchell sisters have been a fantastic addition, adding some much needed comedy into the mix. And having added the character of Jack Branning into the show has given some real spark

The storyline around Ian being stalked was gripping and tense. And has given Adam Woodyatt and Laurie Brett, two of the soaps finest actors a chance to really shine.

So the Stacey and Max affair hasnt been revealed yet and has gone on for a tad too long in my opinion, but I cant wait for all to be revealed on christmas day by Tanya with the video tape. Jo Joyner and Jake Wood are to wonderful actors, and I think this will be absolutely explosive television.

Then of course there's the Jase stuff which Im absolutely loving, very dark and sinister and I think theres much more to come from that.

Im loving it at the moment.

I'm afraid to say I've stopped watching Eastenders now... if they cut it down to twice a week, they would win my viewing back - i just can't invest the time to watch it 4 times a week.. last time i watched it though, i have to say that it has improved.

I will probably tune into the Frank funeral storyline next as that looks absolutely fantastic - the quality that EE was when I last watched it, makes me confident they'll pull this off well.
