BBC Three has commissioned a new, 60-minute comedy drama pilot about a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost sharing a flat.

Being Human - airing as part of the channel's drama pilot season next February - follows twenty-something likely lads Mitchell (Guy Flanagan) and George (Russell Tovey) after they decide to move in together.

Their chances of leading normal lives are somewhat inhibited, however, as Mitchell is a blood-sucking vampire and George a werewolf. The pair also has an uninvited lodger in the form of Annie (Andrea Riseborough), a ghost with a confidence crisis.

"Being Human is a warm, funny, aspirational drama with an irresistible twist," said exec producer Rob Pursey. "Mitchell, George and Annie are supernatural creatures but they are desperate to be part of a life we all take for granted. It's an exciting and contemporary take on friendship and finding your way in the world."

The script comes from Toby Whithouse (Hotel Babylon), with Matthew Bouch (The Sarah Jane Adventures) producing.
