Emily To Leave The Dales

Emmerdale's Kate McGregor will leave the Yorkshire soap in December after eight years in order to pursue other projects.

The actress – who has portrayed character Emily Kirk in the ITV soap since 1999 – is to bow out of the show when her screen counterpart decides to become a vicar.

Speaking of her decision to leave, Kate said: "I've had an amazing eight years on the show but feel the time is right to try something new.

"I will miss everyone at Emmerdale desperately but I'm really excited about what the future holds.”

Series Producer Kathleen Beedles added: "Kate has been an asset to the show and we wish her all the very best for the future."

Kate, who has already filmed her final scenes, went on maternity leave at the beginning of last year and returned to filming in the October.

I think its time for her to leave there is not much more they can do with her character. I did think her and Sam were going to get together

Yeah her character has become a bit stale since she split up from Paddy, though she seemed to lighten up a bit when she was friendly with Paul and Nicola.

Shes very boring now, i couldn't care less to be honest. they should never have split her and Paddy up. its ruined both there characters.

I will be sorry to see her go in one way but agree that unless she was going to get involved with Sam her character has come to the end of the road at the moment. Good idea to make her become a vicar :clap: , perhaps we will see her occasionally pop back to hold a sermon or two when Ashley is not able to.:lol:

sad to see her go , but like others have said theres not much left for her to do.
