It's Greg's first day as a rapid responder and he sets out with something to prove, as the medical drama continues. However, he soon discovers that it's not going to be plain sailing. He visits an elderly lady, Mrs Watts, who is suffering from dementia and can't remember calling 999. Then he has to deal with a lad who is car surfing.
Meanwhile, Adam, impressed with Ruth's work in the ED, suggests that she accompany Greg in the Rapid Response Vehicle. They are called out to Benjamin, a traffic warden, who has been attacked with a hammer. Ruth takes him back to the ED, where Adam allows her to lead his treatment.
Frustrated that Kelsey is taking too long in drawing up some medicine, Ruth decides to do it herself. Later, realising she has administered the wrong medicine, she takes remedial action – but will it work?
For Greg, the day deteriorates markedly. Repeatedly called out to Mrs Watts, he then arranges to meet a girl, Jodie, who had been hanging out with the car-surfer. He arrives to find her suffering from breathing difficulties, and with an empty inhaler. While waiting for the ambulance crew Greg has to treat her on his own. She is taken to ED where he watches the team battle to resuscitate her.
Greg is played by Kip Gamblin, Mrs Watts by Rosemary Leach, Adam by Tristan Gemmill, Ruth by Georgia Taylor and Kelsey by Janine Mellor.
