MONTH ONE!
your fertilised egg turns into a ball of cells, which implants into the wall of your womb.it grows into a prawn shape,no bigger then a grain of rice, and starts to grow a spinal cord and heart.

MONTH TWO!
your baby loses his tail to take on a more human form with a large head.facial features begin to form.hands and feet are apparent, and his muscles to start to grow..by the end of the month ultrasound can pick up movements.a heartbeat can be detected too,and the placenta and the umbilical cord can be seen.

MONTH THREE!
toes and fingers from this month.at first they are webbed, but they quickly separate.by the middle of this month your babys heart is fully formed.his ears are visable, and he officially becomes known as a foetus.by the end of this month all his vital organs are formed.

MONTH FOUR!

your baby has a growth spurt-internal organs are formed, and nails grow.hel look skinny as he hasnt developed a layer of fat yet.by the end of the month fine hair (laguno) grows all over your baby.most of this will disappear before birth. his skin is so thin that you can see blood vessels.

MONTH FIVE!

your baby is continuing to grow at a trmendous rate - he's about 5 inches (13cm) long.he also produces a creamy white substance (vernix) which coats his body to protect his skin.hair, eyebrows and eyelashes grow and his senses start to develop.his eyes are closed, but hes aware of bright light.

MONTH SIX!

growth slows to allow lungs, and digestive and immune systems,to mature.he swallows amniotic fluid and passes urine to start his digestion.he now has more control over his movements and you may feel them, particuarly when you are resting. your movements and noises lull him to sleep.

MONTH SEVEN!

if born now he'd have a good chance of survival.all major organs except lungs are now functioning.brain growth accelerates.cells mature and his body has grown so he looks more inproportion.

MONTH EIGHT!

as he lays down more fat.he starts to look like the newborn baby your eventually see. his movements become more co ordinated, and he can open and close his eyes, and taste sweet and sour.he may settle in a head down position ready for birth, although he can change position.

MONTH NINE!

hes fully formed and the next few weeks are spent growing - he can now gain up to 225g a week.he will develop a thick layer of subcutaneous fat which makes him look plump and gives him reserves to draw on after birth.he can arrive anytime now and his head should engage in your pelvis.
