Has anyone ever noticed that when chris tarrant is in the process of asking the question to pick a contestant for fastest finger first that the chairs that both chris and the contestant sit on in the middle of the floor to answer questions disappears, but when the contestant is picked then walks towards chris the chairs are still not there in the middle but when you see them walking towards the bit in the middle the chairs suddenly appear, why is this?

I think the chairs come up through the floor via trapdoor... that the way I always thought it happened....

I think it's so that they can get a camera to look straight down the middle to the walk through thing (where he comes from at the start of the show) without getting the chairs in the shot.

Like Siobhan said, the chairs move up and down through the floor.

Its all recorded in bits, so when one gets through, they record him with Chris, then a bit with him going to the chair and a bit leaving even before he has answered a question, a friend of mine went to a recording quite a few years ago and said that's how it was done then.

I watched a Millionaire repeat on Challenge last night and the chairs stayed where they were all the time.
